Today a comparison between two Foursquare: 1st Sample X (Kintra) Single Cask, 59.8%: A decent Foursquare. Easy sipper with the well-known typical Foursquare aromas. 2nd Ferroni Barbade 2012 63.4%: Typical Ferroni, very intense. All the aromas of the previously mentioned Foursquare are also present here, only much more intense. The alcohol is unfortunately not very well integrated, but this one is still fun.

Great Foursquare at the level of the standard ECS Vintage Range. Reasonable PLV with available purchase options, despite the single cask with 290 bottles.

I just retasted this one today and wow it's good. I love when the lips are tingling and mouth and throat is warm when sipping. I will need to get a backup bottle for myself and I will add it to my tastings as a joker.

Nice, round Foursquare with clear sweetness of caramel and vanilla, which, however, never tips into the "sticky". Recognizable spice and discreet alcohol provide a harmonious counterbalance to this. Classic profile with high sweetness, but without great complexity. Nevertheless, a successful bottling.

... Foursquare je destilerka z Barbadosu produkujici uzasne rumy ke kazdodennimu popijeni. Je to rum, ktery oceni zejmena rumari, kteri maji plne zuby cukru a hledaji jemny, nasladly rum plny kokosu, vanilky, cokolady a karamelu. Proste prijemne a nijak agresivni chute.

On the nose, it's woody (13 years of ageing, you can tell), with peppery spices and freshly grated nutmeg. There's also something heavier, resinous (glue, varnish). But this is still Foursquare, so there's coconut, chocolate, banana and vanilla. It's a pretty attractive and concentrated nose, but it's a little known and recognized on Foursquare. On the palate, it's very gourmand, spicy but not too spicy. Lots of sweetness with dried fruit, dark chocolate and tobacco. Fruits are also present : p

Typical Foursquare in the usual quality. This one is a touch more caramel and very spicy. A very good rum on a well-trodden path. If you want a Fourquare with a good PLV, this is the right choice.

As with FS most- good and nice, does not hurt, but somehow something is missing....

I don't know if the 91 points are entirely correct, but I rate it just a little higher than the ECS 2008 (90 points) which I find a little more bitter than this one. Maybe I should take the 2008 back in and compare again from there....

Review by Rowald Sweet Empire
Typical FS nose: the glueish nose/grain whisky. Pretty good but also as expected so also a bit boring because FS is standard good/great. Pretty active cask.

I could suggest it is nice classic Foursquare rum matured in ex bourbon barrels. Nothing special here, just round, classic expression with high ABV. Nice sipper, but there are lots of alternatives to this…
