Malteco Malteco Seleccion 1981
Anyone drawn to old, gentle, sherry-leaning sippers will find a lot to like here. Forty years in wood shows up as raisins, prunes, vanilla and a soft cocoa-chocolate note, all sitting on a light, sweet body. The catch is the 40% — several tasters wished for more punch, saying the low ABV lets the sweetness run the show. Easy and dessert-like rather than deep.

How does Malteco Malteco Seleccion 1981 taste?
Aggregated from 16 community reviews.
Old, soft dried-fruit sipper let down by 40% Well-liked but not thrilling — most agree the age reads clearly in the wood, yet the light 40% makes it sweeter and softer than a 40-year rum could be.

Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
I would have loved if this rum had a higher ABV because it's very light in the profile. This also makes it sweeter that it should have been in my mind. Fruity with nice roasted wood. Draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some tobacco and citrus.
