The Whisky Jury Clarendon MM 1995
Most tasters land in the same happy place: a tropical fruit bomb of papaya, mango and passionfruit that turns woody, minty and camphor-heavy on the palate. A few note salty, bitter, tannic edges from the long tropical aging, and some feel it isn't the absolute top of the 1995 Clarendon crop. Still, deep and layered — swirl it hard to wake it up.

How does The Whisky Jury Clarendon MM 1995 taste?
Aggregated from 41 community reviews.
Tropical fruit bomb with minty, bitter edges Loved as a fruit-forward, menthol-laced Clarendon with real depth. The catch: it turns bitter, salty and astringent on the finish, and enthusiasts rank it mid-pack for the 1995 vintage.

Wow, it's delicious! Absolutely round, spicy and strong to the point, reinforced at the end by mint leaves soaked in oil, wonderful! Thanks again to Saibot for the great sample, bun enthusiastic!

Dieser MM95 soll tropisch gereift sein? Meines Erachtens hat er nichts mit seinem angeblichen großen Bruder von Velier zu tun. Am Gaumen ein normaler, an ehesten kontinental gereifter Clarendon.

04.09.2022 Meeting up for a nice after event party at my hotel. Good rum and food spread over a full day. Nose Wood, roasted, faint smoke, fruits, ester, light glue, faint mint. Palate Oily, wood, roasted, light varnish, fruits, light mint, faint anise. Finish Long, wood, roasted, dried fruit, light medicinal, ester, light earthy.

Like the entire Monymusk 1995 vintage at a high level, but not an outstanding representative. Strong nose with great fruit (papaya, mango, passion fruit) and sweetness in combination with heavy spice, homz and menthol/camphor. On the palate, it then tends more in the menthol/camphor/bitter direction and the interplay with the fruit falls somewhat by the wayside - compared to other representatives of the vintage.
Review by Jakob
Classic 1995 EMB profile: Heavy tropical fruits meet mint and barrel aromas. Does not quite come up to the best representatives of the vintage, for this lacks a bit of balance, but that's where the criticisms largely end - because considered on its own, this remains an impressive distillate with a lot of depth and great complexity.

Fruity, sweet and bitter with a windy and creamy finish.

Tasted at Liquid Leuven ‘23, so my review remains rather concise. Presents itself quite old: woody, spicy and oily, before becoming fresh and fruity. It needs lots of swirling to get the magic going. Unagitated it doesn’t really reveal much. Opens with aromas of old wood, oily citrus and cask spices. Molasses increase the sweetness and lead the way into tropical fruit mix. Wonderfully balanced by juniper and passionfruit. Very accessible up to this point. Then lashes of musty camphor, seawind, petrol station and cool mint crank up complexity on the nose inviting to taste. Much harsher on the palate. The fruity sweetness is dialed down a bit to make room for more potent spices such as -but not limited to- allspice and oregano. Camphor now front and centre, then petrol, and eventually again very cool and fresh. Very herbal with a lovely black tea backbone. Ends lengthy in more herb tea. It’s especially musty and dry. A fantastic experience.

Quite sweet/biscuity on the nose (in a pleasant sense) for a Monymusk 1995. Then great spice on the palate with a slight mint impact.

Review by Double Barrel
A Fruit Bomb as written on the label. Some licorice and brine too of course. I can feel its age (slight bitterness, mentholy notes and some tannins) but that's very soft for such a long tropical aging period. Not my favorite of the recent trio released by WJ but a delightful, no brainer, low ester profile Clarendon of a quarter century! Kudos to Whisky Jury to release such beauties so fairly priced (Mden, LP and MM).

A complex round monymusk with pleasant soft facets
Review by m8375e
Thanks to Dr Django for the sample. A huge, delicious monymusk with some challenging bitterness on the palate.
Review by mto75
good MM, with bold passion fruit (passion fruit) on the nose and palate. The finish is unfortunately a bit salty and astringent.
Review by Alex1981
Great fruitbomb that starts with a great nose and adds some briny/mineral and menthol notes on the palate. Not as complex as the Fine Drams 95 but still really enjoyable.

Die Nase gefällt mir am besten und dann gehts leicht bergab, wenn auch auf sehr hohem Niveau.
