CDI Boulet de Canon 10
"Du foin brûlé" — burnt hay — is how one member summed up the divide on this Boulet de Canon No One taster gets smoked ham, roasted hazelnuts and fresh herbs from the peated-whisky finish; another poured it straight down the sink. Expect heavy bacon, campfire smoke and peat, with the rum itself almost buried. A polarizing, whisky-leaning oddity more than a sipping rum.

How does CDI Boulet de Canon 10 taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Smoky bacon-and-peat oddity, very whisky-like "Liquid campfire," as one member put it. People either find the smoked-bacon, peat and roast fascinating or completely undrinkable — very little middle ground, and the rum character mostly vanishes.

wow, I thought the bdc9 already sets the standard in terms of bacon flavor but this is again ne other house number. but no wonder with the combination of islay finish and barrel in the Jura sausage smokehouse😅🥓 where the #9 is still more reminiscent of omitted bbq fat are here rather smoked Black Forest ham, roasted hazelnuts and fresh herbs in the foreground. the islay whiskey finish is perceived here only in the background and brings herbal and medicinal notes, not too dominant and nicely balanced! Definitely a worthy anniversary rum for the Boulet series! very cool!💯🙏

Dennoch gab's schon schlechtere Boulets.

Level: strong (3 of 5). I cannot believe this is only 6.8 on rum-x. This packs a smokey noise and taste that is especially fine and gives me impression of a pirate ship. Hence the pirate cannons on the etikette. Lovely.

Ui, too whiskey-heavy for me. Since the parallel tasted No. 11 tasted better to me. However, I like the late decreasing power of the finish better here at No. 10. But the nose reminds me of sour sweat after longer breathing. Unpleasant. Who jumps over this hurdle, however, will be rewarded with probably never before experienced taste perceptions. Have courage! Update 2023-05-16: Tasted this rum again to finally have the sample empty, and can say that my assessment has not changed from tasting it several months ago: This stuff is absolutely not my cup of tea, yet I respect it. I can add today a really interesting, very dominant olfactory note that I couldn't place before, namely that of those green incense cones - and unlit. 😳🤣
