Dieser Caroni ist eindeutig auf der dreckigen Seite zu Hause. Frucht ist nur ansatzweise wahrnehmbar. Am Gaumen entwickelt sich zudem eine florale Note von Veilchen gepaart mit dem Werkstattaromen. Der Abgang wird dann wieder richtig dreckig würzig. Ein sehr guter Caroni und mit etwas mehr Frucht hätte er durchaus Chancen gehabt, ein paar Points mehr einzusammeln.

Nice HTR profile, lots of complexity, broad aromatics, unfortunately with quite intense astringency on the palate. As Steffen Mayer revealed in his Caroni Bible, the same base product was bottled for Whisky Import First Cask, Schotman, and Wigman Caroni. In terms of taste, this only works to a limited extent; although the basic aroma is clearly related, the nuances point in quite different directions. Exciting and somewhat confusing at the same time. In a direct comparison, the Schotman and Wigman bottlings are clearly ahead of the First Cask for me, which is let down by its very astringent finish.

Leckere jedoch auch intensive Caroni Abfüllung. Sehr dreckig overall, als hätte eine Gruppe Fahrradfahrer viel gebremst auf der der Strasse. Komponenten sind aber relativ ausbalanciert, etwas Kirsch, Schokolade, sehr gut.

Quite unremarkable on the nose with lots of roasted notes, chocolate, nuts, a hint of gasoline, and a little gunpowder — after a while, fruit also emerges. Lots of wood on the palate with menthol and rubber. Then tar comes in. The fruit and chocolate are more prominent in the finish. Not a Caroni highlight... but nice and still tastier than many others 😃

Einen 1999er Caroni hatte ich bis jetzt noch nicht im Glas. Zu dieser Abfüllung kann man sagen, das diese eher auf dreckigen Seite als auf der fruchtigen ist. Aber da ich auf diese dreckigen stehe, hat er mir super gefallen

Schönes Teil! Toller Caroni für mich als Caroni-Einsteiger. Ein bisschen Dreck, Teer und Röstnoten. Aber nicht zu extrem. Im Abgang kommt Menthol dazu. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden. Sehr sehr schön.
