Old Brothers Clarendon Clarendon MLC 2001
"You could sniff it for hours," says one taster, and the nose is where this Clarendon wins people over: esters, glue, ripe mango and papaya over deep old oak. The palate turns surprisingly minty and menthol-fresh, with mango, dried fruit and drying tannins. At 61.3% the heat is real, and a few felt the alcohol could sit tighter.

Wow, this is a really nice Clarendon.I got the nose as soon as I opened the sample bottle. Standing on the table resting the flavours just kept developing and they were easy to pick up from the couch.Well balanced, intense and oily on the palate, just love it.

for comparison in the other glass the whiskey jury MM 95. The OB comes clearly more over the ester track and citrus. In the WJ, however, tropical fruits such as passion fruit and mango dominate. On the palate, I have a nice mango note in the OB, but it is countered by a rather gruff wood barrel mint bitterness. In contrast, the WJ comes across as much smoother. The final vote has just spoken a fruit fly, which has strayed into the WJ glass with the two rums available for selection 😅

A typical Clarendon profile which is very well executed. Balance is very impressive on both nose and mouth. Kudos to Old Brothers 🤙

Interested rum. A young but promising bottler

A classic Jamaican rum at first, with esters and tropical fruit rising on the nose with a hint of apricot softening the profile. The rum is quite subtle on the palate, especially with notes of fruit and menthol that come to give pep. The finish continues on the mentholated frame with notes of eucalyptus and tea which give freshness and contrast with the power in mouth. A rather greedy and fresh rum in spite of its degree of alcohol.

Beautiful nose. Super fruity of papaya, mango and banana. Complemented by esters and pastry. The taste is then surprisingly minty. But of the awesome variety. Some mango, green tea and leather. Soft finish of mint and eucalyptus. A very good and quite exceptional drop.

Very nice Jamaican: Dominant fruit paired with some wood, spice and a hint of tea. Despite the age not too tart, instead balanced with wonderful freshness.

Very Jamaican nose. Full of esters, very ripe fruits. In the mouth, it is discreetly woody, strong, funky, fruity and surprisingly minty. And surprisingly minty, a sensation that remains very present at the end of the mouth. Surprising and very pleasant. We come back to it with great pleasure.

In the nose a fine ester note, fruit and later also wood. In the mouth it moves forward quickly! First sweet and fruity, then esters, solvents and a lovely sensation on the tongue. The finish is long and intense with esters and fruit. A nice piece, although I wouldn't buy a bottle.

Clearly more esters than the 95 EMB. The alcohol is still a bit brute here and could be a bit better integrated. Either way, however, tasty stuff.

A good monymusk, with typical flavor profile, but too round for me

Nose changes with time. Starts with esters and punch, mellows very nicely. Attack is strong and vive - fruits and super long finish - quite a find !

Superb, I love it. Very good clarendon as usual when it comes from this distillery 😍 The nose is fantastic, and a lovely explosion on the palate 😍on the other hand, the length is average /long Hence the slightly reduced score.
Review by Barnagricole
On the nose: violets and glue on a bed of wood and candied red fruit. Very enticing. Palate: very pleasant entry with fresh fruit and violet. Becomes darker and dirtier with glue and hydrocarbons. Finish: wood, red fruit and a fair amount of tannin; strong impression of cherry pit. 84
