Worthy Park Special Cask Series Port 2010
Sipping neat is where most people meet this one, and the port cask does a lot of the talking: red fruits, grape, caramel and a nutty, oxidative edge over Worthy Park's tropical fruit. Several tasters find the spice pushes hard and the body reads a bit watery, wishing it had been bottled at higher strength. Easy-going for a Jamaican, with a dry, black-tea finish.

Port-forward Jamaican, gentle but a bit thin Well-liked as a gentle, port-forward Jamaican, but opinions cool over balance: many call it too diluted and a touch spicy or sour, saying it deserved a higher strength.

Like WP reserve, I couldn´t find almost no difference. It is softer....
Review by ElReyTristan

Good for a gentle introduction to Jamaican rums. Interesting nose involving several solvents, but not aggressive, on a background of red fruits. The palate is good, with a hint of port finish, but the whole is rather watery. Less reduction would have been preferable. A very pleasant rum overall, as always with Worthy Park.

I'm liking this one a lot. Probably because it's not too funky as some other Jamaicans 😅 A nice sweetness but also with a slight bittef twist to it. The port is there but not overpowering the taste imo. Very easy to drink as well.

From the fruit basket strongly in the direction of citrus. Sweet fruits hardly present. The tropical maturation lifts the rum clearly from the continental matured WP. The port finish is extremely present here and unfortunately rolls down the WP fruit basket somewhat.

In the nose, still with a clear impact of port, but on the palate, the spices press quite on the tube and despite the reduction to (high) drinking strength, the rum adheres to a quite accentuated spiciness. In the finish, a somewhat medicinal-mineral note joins in. Overall exciting, because the rum is aromatically already expressive, but unfortunately remains somewhat unbalanced. Lies for me behind the sister bottling with Madeira finish.

Good, but unfortunately a bit thin

Ve vůni i chuti hodně portského a červeného vína, rum stojí trochu stranou.

Slightly better than the Madeira cask expression but not as good as the Reserve.

Friends of port wine get their money's worth here. A little too sour for me.
