Chairman's Reserve The Forgotten Casks
Most people sip this neat, and a few happily drop it in a longdrink when the mood's casual. Expect vanilla, caramel, dried fruit and toasted oak with a coffee-and-chocolate edge, all wrapped in an easy, rounded body. It reads naturally sweet without tasting sugary. The recurring gripe: at 40% it's a touch thin, and the finish is short.
The community says- Rounded and warming

Aggregated from 272 community reviews.
Warm, easy oak-and-vanilla sipper, slightly thin Widely liked as an easy, warm sipper with vanilla, oak and dried fruit. Many wish it were bottled stronger — several call it thin and a bit flat next to the single casks.

Bottle Market Bremen October 2024. Now a Chairman's. I love these rums. Nose is slightly sweet, also some wood and cask. On the palate also slightly deliciously sweet (vanilla and chocolate) and also some wood.

Review by Stefan Persson
It’s distilled in Coffey and Pot stills and then first aged separately before blended and aged for three more years. Total aging is six to eleven years. I think it’s a little bit better than their classic Reserve. In the front of the mouth it doesn’t taste very much, but when you swallow it all flavors arrive and stays there trough the rather long finish.

Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. Got a few more points. Naturally sweet and good balance. ---------------- Retasting at the German Rum Fest. 2024 ---------------- #4258 16.09.2023 Whisky N Rum Show 2023. This one was kind of unbalanced. The ABV was not too well integrated. Medium fruity with spices and roasted wood notes. The finish is short to medium with a light smoky touch. Would have loved a higher ABV.

Actually a nice Chairman's, but since I could now try different bottlings at the Community Tasting Nuremberg, this one is the taillight. But he is not really bad, for the price completely in order. Took him in the end as a mixer.
Review by Abrahan Reyes
It has some Barbadian flare but is also unique. On the nose a bit alcoholic and lots of tropical fruits. On the taste caramel, coffee and fruits. The color is amazing probably they add some caramel coloring.
Review by Oliver
Fairer Preis. Für Einsteiger daher eine Empfehlung.

Caramel, vanilla, treacle, oak, some spiciness. Overall, unfortunately, clearly too sweet and one-dimensional for my taste.
Review by BTHHo 🥃
Palate: Warmth that offers grilled tropical fruits and candied walnuts, rounded with soft spices that continue as a long wonderful finish.

Significantly better than the standard Chairman and still very good value for money. Super entry-level rum with a harmonious profile, which doesn't take any risks but is still suitable for drinking neat and enjoying.
Review by Eric Frechin
A bottle that I also classify as a beginner's rum. It's very diluted, so it's round and smooth. The fruitiness of the original is lost in favor of woodiness, vanilla and raisins.
Review by cigares

Absolute Empfehlung.
Review by w00tAN
Relatively flat, unfortunately has little in common with the other Chairman's. Good rum for beginners who have overcome the first sugar water.
Review by Skyfly
Fair rating: Delicious blend, but appears watered down on the palate. The typical Saint Lucia aromas are present, but that certain something is missing for drinking straight. Passable in a long drink, but nothing more
Review by Tyler Griffith
Incredibly balanced and full of flavor. A bit of spice on the finish. Good mix of sweet and fruity notes. Would absolutely sip this.
Review by Rumpalumpa
Nice smell, lots of spices with tannins from a roasted barrel. On the palate, you realize that it doesn't have more %. Because here too it is beautifully spicy, roasty and simply round but a little too weak.
Review by Christoph
Smells at first something like damp crypt then unfolds coconut and caramel without seeming artificially sweet. In the finish bitter. Some raisin.

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 23 Erster Eindruck: dezent und sehr Rum-typisch Nase: zurückhaltende Anklänge von allen typischen Aromen kräftiger Rums Gaumen: Holz, Vanille, getrocknete Früchte, Leder, Tabak, … alles, was kräftige Rums ausmacht in einer sehr runden, ausgewogenen Komposition.

Good sipper with an interesting profile. There is certainly worth a look at the High Proof / Single Cask Chairmen.

Review by Patrik Onderka
Got this sample from 24 Days of rum advent Calendar. My second Chairman’s reserve and the first tasting in 2025 on 1.1.2025. The forgotten casks made a very good impression. On nose it felt slight notes of honey and caramel. It was smooth and warming on palate. With a medium finish and dried fruit notes I was satisfied.
Review by Martin Ekrt
Aromas of soft honey-caramel, vanilla, slightly dried and tropical fruits, a well-drinking cask. Taste sweetish caramel, vanilla, light coffee and chocolate. Finish chocolate and vanilla. A fine approachable rum, quite different from the Chairman Original.
Review by Brandon Gerling
The nose is pretty rounded, hard to really gather much on as a beginner. The palate hits with a wonderfully sweet vanilla classic rum and then balances out with a woody spice on the back end. One of my absolute favorites I’ve tried as a sipper so far.
Review by Rumbaer
A rum for all those who have left the very sweet rums behind. Pleasantly mild profile with vanilla, some wood and dried fruit on the nose. The taste is then also vanilla, fruity and with a pleasant sweetness. There is also a nice story about the "forgotten casks"
Review by TheJackDrop
Notes taken during the Rhum Fest 2024, Quick notes and a bit heavy palate, sorry :) Here we have: vanilla and wood, it's a bit drier A rum: too simple for me... Finish: short and warm
Review by Dave Dahlgren
Review by Tobin
Much better than expected at this price.
Review by Arjan91
Nose very nice, coffee, spice, sweet. Flavors: (somewhat sweet) coffee, some smoke, wood, spices, vanilla and an aftertaste somewhat distant which resembles overripe fruit and/or chlorine.
Review by paulgi86
Off the back of trying the original Chairman’s Reserve, this one seems to differ ever so slightly - you’d only really notice when comparing them side by side. If you were sipping one each a day apart you might be struggling because it’s broadly similar however Nose - more Sherry like notes taking hold (raisins, dried fruits, Sherry cask spices) as well as your standard vanilla, caramel, toasted oak with a slight waft of coconut and roasted coffee notes Palate - the coffee and chocolate notes kinda double down and meld together (coffee, chocolate, mocha) however you do “taste” the age difference as the complexity is slightly elevated compared to the original as there’s more oak spice and again roasted notes The legs on the glass look deceiving as they bead down relatively quickly compared to the original but the flavour tends to stick around longer this time round and it’s lovely and mouth coating (again for a 40% ABV spirit) Finish is short to medium - not quite long enough to be classed as medium but not almost a vanishing act like the original does in comparison This is a mark up for me and one I’d happily recommend as the top echelon of simple sippers - great flavour at a great price Only thing keeping this from an 8/10 is the finish length - maybe a bump to 43% ABV would help cement this as a permashelf item

Luscious, very pleasant and very round. However, it lacks character and is a little too flat.
Review by Decky Hicks Doughty
The nose is surprisingly sharp for a 40% rum. Notes of honey and raisins mainly. Lots of oak towards the back of the nose. A sweet palate. Lots of wood, leather, dark chocolate. It becomes bitter after a few seconds. The finish is quite short. Bitter, dry. Faint note of espresso. Not the Chairmans Reserve for me. Overly aged and bitter.
Review by Andi
Light sweetness, tropical fruit, coconut, not a bad rum, but for me personally a little too flat for the cupboard.

Review by Daniel
Mild, palatable rum, not very complex. Clearly roasted aromas from the wood on the finish.
Review by ordogh
Round and sweet, with full of nice spices. Nice entry level sipping rum.
Review by Jon Stover
Not great. Tastes more like a whiskey than a rum.
Review by Schnapsschuesse
Sweet on the nose, with caramel, vanilla, raisin, dark wood and a hint of coffee. Clearly less sugar cane and grassy notes here.On the palate then quite different from Original and Legacy. Dark chocolate, coffee, caramel. Very drinkable and beginner-friendly.Unfortunately, comparatively flat and little complex. That gives deduction.
Review by Rum Runner Labs - Will
A very approachable molasses based rum with enough age to give a very warm spiciness on the palate and finish, but retaining enough fresh character to deliver a little dried fruit on the nose.

Not to be compared with the single casks, but a very pleasant easy sipper.
