Savanna Collection Métissage Canton 2007
Aimed at Savanna fans who want something off the usual path: this 12-year molasses rum leans dark and dense, with prunes and dried figs up front, then dark chocolate, thick caramel and orange peel. Several tasters compared it to old Guyana Enmore, and one caught "nice sweetness from the moscatel cask." At 55.1% the heat needs time in the glass to settle.

First lots of dried fruits, prunes. After 5+ mins it changes to more sweet and more like Guyana PM, Enmore… very interesting experience.

Un Savanna particulier et déroutant de prime abord. Le nez évoque plusieurs choses. On ressent d’abord le côté fruité sur les fruits secs (raisin) puis les fruits jaunes (abricot, pêche) puis la pomme et la cerise (ou la figue) sur un ton très mûr. Le côté épicé évoque le cumin, avec un ton légèrement herbacé, avant que n’apparaissent des notes toastées, boisées et caramélisées. On est sur la catégorie des rhums traditionnels de l’île, mais c’est loin d’être un profil type. L’attaque en bouche est sombre et vive. Le côté épicé ressort énormément dans les premiers instants (réglisse, gingembre, vanille, poivre) avec une bonne dose de boisé et de fumé qui viennent comme asphyxier le palais. Le caramel et le chocolat noir donnent un peu de rondeur avec les fruits, qui sont assez variés (fruits secs, fruits rouges, fruits jaunes, le tout assez mûr). L’alcool est bien intégré. La finale est dans le même registre, collante, opulente et assez empyreumatique. Le fruité ressort également pour donner de la sucrosité. L’amertume se fait également ressentir avec une pointe de mélasse et un côté plus sec. Un Savanna original qui montre l’étendue de la gamme que propose la distillerie.

Whooo - this one taste like blend of Savanna and Enmore. (3 to 7) I even taste molases! It is definitely not typical and superb Savanna, but I like it!

30.03.2022 Sampling a bit at home. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, light caramel, faint chocolate, light anise, light orange. Palate Oily, light spicy, wood, light roasted, faint chocolate, light caramel, light orange, fruits, light orange. Finish Medium to long, light wood, fruits, light orange, spice, medium spicy, faint chocolate. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while or the ABV will be overpowering the nice flavours.

Nase ist schon nicht verkehrt... Dunkle Früchte, Karamell, Kakao und etwas Lakritz ... Alkohol kaum wahrnehmbar. Am Gaumen sehr ähnlich der Nase nur irgendwie sehr schnell wieder weg und mir fehlt etwas das besondere ... Abgang Schokolade und etwas Lakritz und gut Bitterstoffe. PLV passt hier für mich nicht.
