Hampden Kill Devil <>H 2001
"A classic Hampden profile, but not a top example of its kind" is roughly where several tasters land. The nose is ester, glue and banana; the palate opens up into pineapple, wood, dark chocolate and grilled nuts, with varnish and a drying, lacquer-like grip. At 60.7% the alcohol sits well. A few felt the finish was surprisingly short.

Beautiful classic profile as you would expect from the HD 2001 <>H. Solid representative without standing out. Also delivers Tai in May.

A very pretty Hampden that gives pride of place to ripe fruit. Esters are present. Nice woodiness. Varnish too, but discreet. A hint of vanilla. Acidity on the palate. A spiciness that grabs the tongue before wood and then ripe fruit take over. The varnish is back. The finish is initially woody. Then pineapple and banana take over, before giving way to a slight bitterness. Very pleasant. Complex and evolving.

15.02.2020 Had a nice evening with dinner and everything and after that a nice little tasting. Notes. Light in colour. Nose Light wood, fruity, banana, ginger, spice, ester, light smoke. Palate Oily, wood, fruity, pineapple, citrus, ester, light smoke. Finish Medium long, wood, pineapple, light chocolate.

Solider 2001er Hampden. Ananas, Ester, etwas Holz, Marzipan. Der macht jetzt auch nicht viel falsch. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Der größte Kritikpunkt für mich der Abgang. Der war erstaunlich kurz.

Todays competition lowers it a bit and I probably would rate it higher if it where a higher ABV too, but still really good.

A very good and typical Hampden, which hits in with a lot of ester. Varnish spreads in the mouth and leaves it very dry.Good Hampden, but not the best I have drunk so far.

Schönes klassisches Hampden-Profil, jedoch kein Spitzenvertreter seiner Art.

Read full review →This rum has a surprising amount of balance to it and its been really well looked after. It’s probably about mid tier in terms of esters but it carries enough of the funk and hogo to make this unmistakably Pot Still Jamaican Rum. It has a really good balance to...
