Caroni Kill Devil (The Whisky Barrel) HTR 1998
More smoke than dirt here, which surprises people who expect the usual Caroni tar-and-rubber funk. You still get tar, tobacco and a touch of vanilla, but it leans dry and woody, with a clear smoky streak running through it. A couple of tasters found it a bit one-dimensional next to other 1998 Caronis; one simply said "Smoky Caroni. I like!"

11.06.2021 A nice evening with some friends at the beach bringing some nice rums. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, faint smoke, spice, faint rubber, workshop, cherry. Palate Balanced, light wood, faint tar, light rubber, faint smoke, raisin, light cherry, spice, faint coffee. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint smoke, rubber, medium dry, light coffee, faint cherry.

Round, continental Caroni that doesn't offend anywhere. The dirty notes are missing. However, some smoke does come through, which is unusual. However, it is fun and was affordable at the release price.

A somewhat unusual Caroni. Lots of alcohol at the beginning, which is not so well integrated, then light wood notes, smoke, few typical Caroni notes, some vanilla. The finish is surprisingly short.
