VS Distillers J. Gow Revenge
A funky, rubbery rum from Scotland is not what most people expect, yet that's what this is. Caramel and molasses sit next to acetone, glue and a dirty, dry funk that had one taster reaching for Jamaica as a comparison. Only three years old but pot-still and characterful. Fruity up front, then it turns rubbery and dry. Polarizing — several members found it more interesting than lovable.

Funky, rubbery Scottish rum with Jamaican leanings People are divided: some get honeycomb, mango and old oak and rate it highly, others hit acetone, cheese and a metallic, rubbery finish. Odd but interesting, and better in mixers for some.

24 Days of Rum 2024 - Black Edition - Day 24 Erster Eindruck: was ist das? Nase: Aceton ohne Früchte, Käse? Gaumen: Holz, Pflanzen, Chemie Abgang: mittellang, metallischer Nachgeschmack Gesamteindruck: dieser sehr eigene Charakter kommt bei mir leider nicht mehr „angenehm“ (7+) an, vielleicht in sehr fruchtigen Mixern? Sorry

Die Nr. 24 aus dem Adventskalender 24 day of Rum war dann auch der letzte für mich. Immerhin 12 von 24 neue ;-) In der Nase Politur und sehr chemisch, sowie etwas Karamell. Am Gaumen dreckig und trocken, Gummi und Whisky sind auch erkennbar.

Nosing Honeycomb, mango acetone ,papaya Tasting Old oak , sweet fudge , citrus fruits This is a beautiful pot stilled naturally sweet rum .. had it in a crystal glass just in ice and let it breathe for 15 minutes ... It's a very complex 3 year old rum and certainly in a couple of years time would be interested in the older stuff they age ...

Dieser Revenge Rum hat drei Jahre in Bourbon Fässern gelagert dieses ist auch deutlich zu erkennen. Schmeckt ganz interessant und auch ein wenig Whisky ist zu erkennen. Klar der Rum kommt aus Schottland.

Wüsste man nicht, dass er aus Schottland kommt, könnte man hier auch einen karibischen Blend vermuten. Etwas Frucht, Zuckerrohr und trotz nur 3 Jahren Reifung so weit nördlich, zumindest am Gaumen vom Fass abgerundet.

Vůně lehčí, melasa, trochu ananas, přezrálé ovoce, estery, koření. Chuť melasa, karamel, ester, tropické ovoce, zázvor. Závěr kořeněný, melasa, citrusy, ananas. Celkově to připomíná Jamajku. Zajímalo by mě, kdyby tento rum měl kolem 55%.

Much better sample than the previous one from the last year which was not to my liking. This one however is better with more prominent sweetness on the nose as well as the palate. Vanilla, chocolate and strawbery notes are present on the 👅 . However, I am still not a fan.

Smoke, vanilla, perfume. Pale golden pour. Decent balance, and a little better than I thought it would be. Some astringent oakiness in the end. 24 days of rum calendar mini.

Read full review →This is the best rum, I think so far from J Gow/VS Distillers . Which is no bad thing as the other two rums I've tried weren't too shabby either. Get yourself on that mailing list. Also get yourself some of that tablet in the photos. It's bloody lovely.
