Sip this neat and you get overripe orchard and tropical fruit — peach, apple, papaya, pineapple — over floral honey and a green, grassy agricole freshness, with the Herr cask adding a fruity ester lift. At 56.4% the alcohol shows through. One taster called it "a typical Reunion rum," and a good one, though several wanted more depth. The finish runs woody and herbal but ends sooner than the cask promises.

Delicious traditional Agricole savanna with grand arome Herr finish. Very pleasant to drink, mild and aromatic. But could be a little more complex overall. I was expecting a little more!

For a classic Agricole, the HERR cask has done a great job and in my opinion enhanced the rum. The classic Agricole aromas run alongside esters, strawberry, and olive.

👃 Un premier nez porté sur des fruits frais de toute sorte, en mode salade de fruits. Puis, ils migrent vers un versant plus mûrs ; pêche, pomme, fraise, mangue, ananas. Cela évolue vers un pot-pourri floral, fleurs très odorantes, fumée de fleurs des champs. Les esters sont vanillés et sucrés sur de la canne à sucre confite. Légère saumure et fermentation lactique. L'alcool est assez présent. Très joli nez, le point fort de la dégustation. 😋 Très florale, fruitée et boisée. Esters fruités, fruits du verger et tropicaux, gelée de fleurs, pas mal de fraîcheur herbacée agricole, canne à sucre confite, note vanillée et réglissée en bâtonnet. J'ai une sensation d'un niveau de saveurs assez léger. ⛳ Chaude, fermentée, épicée et assez alcooleuse. Pas mal de fruits encore. De longueur moyenne, trop courte par rapport à ce que l'on pourrait attendre d'un finish en fût de Herr. 🫗 Un verre vide le lendemain porté sur l'odeur d'un pot de miel de fleurs à l'ouverture. 💡 Un agricole boosté aux esters du fût de Herr. Original, ça fonctionne pour moi, même si ça manque de complexité et d'intensité comme on pourrait l'attendre de ce genre de rhum. 85 > 86, +1pt pour ce nez si agréablement floral et fruité.

Savanna Cross Tasting - November 2025: Jetzt habe ich den Japan Tribute 2 endlich probieren dürfen und auch hier muss ich sagen, dass ich mir etwas mehr versprochen habe. Nase etwas verhalten und am Gaumen etwas dünn.

Nez très médicinal au 1er abord sur le cirage, le menthol et un côté métallique. Après ouverture cela devient sucré et fruité sans réussir nommer ces fruits. La bouche attaque avec des notes de miel de sucre, l'acidité de l'ananas et une fraîcheur végétale. Des notes de vieux bois, des épices et le cirage donnent tout son caractère à ce rhum. Ma finale est très longue sur des notes boisées et herbacées. Un rhum complexe et élégant qui garde une grande gourmandise en même temps.

Unfortunately, this is just a tribute. Standard traditional rum. Sweet and short spicy profile. Kind of next to each other and not really integrated. The Herr cask does not save this. Sadly I am not of a fan
