Nobilis Long Pond No. 4 2000
Long Pond fans who want a gentler, more polished side of Jamaica will feel at home here. This 20-year, cask-strength pot still leans pineapple and overripe banana with light glue and ester funk, a touch of vanilla, licorice and dry oak spice. One taster nailed it as "expensive Pineapple Juice" — lovely, but softer and less buttery-meaty than the classic LP profile.
The community says- Ripe pineapple, banana
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Less funk than usual

Very fruity funky in the nose also a lot of tropical fruits in mouth with a solid finish. The alcohol is integrated very well. Pleasant to drink. Summary: Very good long pond, but not worth 500,00€+

Ok, but not fully convincing. Has the power of a young Hampden, but with more herbs and spices. Water takes a bit of the sharpness. Not so mine.

There I have to deduct after renewed tasting also compared to the other 2000 LP unfortunately bit.

20 yo LP, it should be able to do something...Nose: fruity-ester-spicy. Intense esters at the start, accompanied by tropical fruits, papaya and pineapple, but also mealy banana and fresh, sweet lemon. The esters clearly bring vinegar as well as glue and polish. All wrapped up in tart sweetness from maple syrup. Some wood or cardboard delicately at the back. I mean, 20 years continental does not create the density and integrated sweetness as comparable 20 years tropical. 85Palate: yet different than the nose suggests. First astringent, bitter-salty, then the esters come immediately. Now comes nicely tart bitter lemon zest and pineapple. These are replaced by toasty, slightly bacony aromas. Behind that, spicy and intense licorice. The esters come in again at the back. Not a totally round LP, a bit too bitter, but the bacon licorice note is interesting. 85

Decent nose but rather weak in the mouth.

Insgesamt ein guter Long Pond. Daily Sipper.

I'd say the Ekte 15 year old is better!

Beautiful long pond, balanced aromas of fruit esters, woody sweetness and somewhat herbal-tart notes.
Review by DomM
RA / Nobilis / TRC: Very nice and mellow fruity notes with honey in all three. TRC is noticeable more woody/aged on the nose, however. RA most fruity and powerful on the palate. Nobilis somewhat tamed with noticeable less fruits. Wood and some smoke enter the picture. TRC with very nice combination of wood and fruits. Most elegant of the trio. Nice vintage/mark for enjoyable Jamaican sippers. 😊

Nice Long Pond, would argue that it’s not worth it’s price tag. Glad to have tasted it, thanks for the sample Christoph!

Very fresh and acidic on the nose, citrus fruits, but not very inviting at first. On the palate, more tropical fruits, licorice, barrel and spices. A clear improvement on the nose and quite tasty, but I personally find something missing. Unfortunately, it disappears too quickly and leaves behind a dry taste. Good, but doesn't fully convince me.

Review by Filip Šikula
Vevůni klasicky tropické ovoce a estery.

I would define this rum as weirdly Jamaican: the nose is waaay less funky than other long ponds I’ve tasted..There’s indeed some fruits (banana, pineapple) both on the nose and on the palate, but I totally miss all the buttery, meaty sensation that I love from LP..this one seems more elegant and “classy”, if I may. The wood from the barrel is not overwhelming, giving some spiciness (vanilla and cinnamon) to the rum. Overall, I liked it, although, for my idea of LP, I would not buy a whole bottle of it!

A very expensive Pineapple Juice but Damn, it's soooo good!

Sehr entspannter, leckerer Long Pond mit gut integriertem Alkohol.

Uhh this is Getting nice in the aftertaste. Again one of the more fuller profiles on the 2000 long ponds. Really a lovely ode to what even low ester can achieve. Not too acidic but full of funk, I am sure a blast in drinks
