Père Labat Black Opus 2009
Citrus jumps out first — tangerine and orange on the nose that several tasters found genuinely inviting. The palate turns woody, with vanilla, soft caramel and a herbal, grassy agricole edge. It's a Marie-Galante cane-juice rum aged 11 years, and one member called the cask work "très réussie." The catch a few flag: at 42% it can read a touch soft, and the citrus fades on the tongue.

Plain - must say I expected more from a +200 EUR bottle of rhum - especially when it's from Marie Galante and the Labat distillery.

My first Pere Labat tasting with the guys and a lot of fun. This one was a nice surprise and price to quality is good.

Great rum but a little lack of power. 46 abv would have been great. Also the price is too much. I’d rather go for a Neisson VSOP for 70 euros. Instead of 240 for this one.

The nose is very inviting, tons of citrus especially tangerine and orange. On the palate however, it's essentially wood, vanilla and herbal notes, citrus is faint and in the back. I was hyped by the nose but for me this rum falls in the category of enticing nose that do not deliver fully on the palate unfortunately. Alcohol is very well integrated though, it's doesn't feel too thin despite the low ABV.
