Glue, polish and overripe banana come charging out at nearly 66% — pure DOK Hampden, but the PX cask layers raisins, apricot and a soft vanilla sweetness underneath. Members enjoy the tug-of-war between chemical funk and sherried fruit, though one who tried both batches prefers the fruitier first release. Intense, warm, and long on a dry, tannic finish.

8,5:On the nose, intense, medicinal with esters, glue and polish, solvents, funky, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, dairy notes, creamy, dried fruits like raisins and apricots, sweet, sherry barrel impact is obvious, red fruits, roasted wood notes like chocolate, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, floral, citrus fruits arise, roasted nuts, caramel join, spicy tones, leather, meaty. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is intense with medicinal notes like esters, glue, solvents, rubber, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, citrus fruits, sour, sweet fruit candies join, dairy hints, sherry barrel impact is obvious with leather and dried fruits like raisins and apricots, sweet, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, herbaceous and the wood is roasted with chocolate, nuts, spicy with vanilla, tannic. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic, balanced, medicinal, chemical, fruity with fermented tropical, citrus fruits, red, dairy, sherry brings dried fruits, leather, molasses is vegetal with briny olive and the wood toasted with chocolate, nuts, caramelized, spicy, warm, smoky..

Tour de France schauen und dabei ein paar Samples verkosten. Das wird ein wunderbarer Nachmittag. Gefällt richtig gut, hat die typischen Marker Ester, Banane und Ester aber auch eine leichte Süße dank Vanille und dem PX-Finish.

#6173 01.01.2025 Enjoying a few New Year samples getting ready for a relaxing day with leftover food and snacks. Nose Intense, light wood, ester, fruity, overripe, light glue, pineapple, polish, light mint. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, fruity, overripe, ester, citrus, light mint, varnish, faint salt, light chocolate. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, fruity, pineapple, light chocolate, spice, faint salt. Empty glass Banana, light citrus, light mint, light chocolate, light sour.

On the nose: Esters, glue. Sherry cask influence is there with little bit of nutty notes. Tropical fruits. Taste: Intense at first due the high abv and DOK mark. Sherry notes. Esters. Fruit notes like pineapple and citrus. Little bit of sour mouthfell. Then the palate sweetens up a little bit with vanilla notes. Finish : solvents, mild esters, Sherry notes from the cask. Finishes dry. Medium finish. Quite solid sherrycask matured Jamaican rum. I only have a sample but it would be nice to try this in a cocktails.

The nose is more drawn back, powdery and less fruity than its sibling. The palete is also on the same theme with more chemical notes than fruity and flowery. I like the batch 1 better I’m afraid.
