Runaway Bay Premium Aged Jamaican Rum
Ripe pineapple, stewed banana and that classic estery Jamaican funk come through clearly on the nose, with a little grass, oak and polish behind it. On the palate the Hampden-style DNA is there but tasters keep landing on one word: thin. At 42.5% it drinks gentle and easy, which is exactly why so many call it a good first Jamaican rather than a serious sipper.

Aggregated from 18 community reviews.
Easy, funky first Jamaican — a touch thin Well-liked as an easy pot-still intro — funky nose, ripe fruit, and softly drinkable. The recurring catch: several tasters find the palate watery and wish it had more punch.

10:On the nose there are heaps of ripe, estery fruit, namely stewed banana and pineapple, some mango along with coconut cream and unmistakable funk. Airing brings even more ripe tropical fruits, delicious prune jam, aroma becomes more toasted. Tutto perfetto! 9,5:The palate starts with tinned and roasted pineapple and freshly cut grass, licorice candies, molasses, along with dried fruit and oaky, toasted caramel, some notes of elderflower, green apple, they linger through the finish. 9,5:The finish is long with fried banana and ripe esters, tobacco notes arise, linger on a dry and peppery finish. In the market, you can hardly find as balanced/smooth/sippable Jamaican rum.... Grab it with both hands If you could find it.

Runaway Bay Here we have Runaway Bay, a rum named for a beach on the north coast of Jamaica. The pot still rum brings together rum from four distilleries on the Island, including high ester spirit from Trelawny and rum from Vale of Lluidas. It was then rested in a pair of barrels for at least 11 years, before being bottled in a limited release of 773 bottles. What's more, the glass is made from recycled bottles, topped off with a real cork stopper. A great introduction to high ester rum! This is a blend of Worthy Park and some Hampden plus two other unnamed Jamaica distillerys. Blended to celebrate the Runaway Bay are of Jamaica 770 bottles produced mine is 396 of batch 1 . 42.5% that's a copper pot still blend . Nosing Apples, smoke , tar ,grass , oak Tasting Chocolate ,mangos , long stewed bannana cherry to finish ... This is a very mild Jamaican rum in percentage but you can tell its been aged to perfection. An exceptional drop of rum and look forward to future batches .

A very good blend of Jamaican rums. Funky, fruity, floral acetone and cigar all come out clearly but none are overbearing. Maybe just lacking a bit of the dynamism and range in flavour profile of the better Hampden’s I’ve tried.

Sehr schöner, entspannter Hampden in angenehmer Trinkstärke. Macht Spaß!

Aufgrund der hohen Bewertung gekauft. Die Nase leichte ester Noten. Banane mit Ananas. Im Geschmack ein sehr gedrosselter rum. Klares Hampden Profil aber schon sehr schwach. Für Einsteiger zum heranführen sicher toll.

Fruity pineapple and banana (roasted) on the nose. A few esters, spice and young wood and polish are also there. The Hampden DNA can also be recognized on the palate ... but already a little thin.

Schon etwas dünn, aber sicher ein sehr guter Hampden für Einsteiger.

Pineapple, banana and ester. Bit low on the ABV side, but it is a great sipper.

Nice blends. The usual jamaique markers are there. I'm only giving it a 6 because, personally, I'm not a fan of jamaique, but a pleasant rum all the same.
