Very round, sweet melange of spices and fresh wood. For me, a bit too straightforward and pleasing in profile to strike out even higher in the rating. But that is criticism at the highest level, since the top league from Guyana simply has even more complexity, finesse and aromatics to offer. Nevertheless, a high-class representative of the current Demerara squad.

Slightly ahead of the WH #1 bottle. Feels just a bit more round overall and more open on the nose. Both (unsurprisingly) quite similar, however.

Now we're talking. Guyana in top form. Skeldon is simply awesome. 💯🙏🤤 Very tasty, complex and full-bodied number of roasted almonds & coconut chips, vanilla pulp, allspice, strong coffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, banana pulp and raisins soaked in rum, figs and apricots, slightly salty and dark caramel and of course lots of wood and tannins. Similar to the El Dorado Skeldon, it also has hints of rum, walnut and grape jelly 🤤 but I'm most impressed by this great vanilla pulp note!

Sehr lecker . Wie würde Zabo sagen diese elenden 200 Zeichen.... echt Nervig... was soll man denn immer schreiben als würde das jemand lesen 🤣🤣🤣🤣 vielleicht wenn man plötzlich umami und Eselsohren rausschmeckt 🫡🙈🤣 Aber nein dieser SWR ist einfach nur lecker.

Wow, this is fun! Great dark roasted notes with a nice sweet balance. Only the alcohol could be a little better integrated.

This SWR stands out for its fruitiness. The cappuccino caramel note shares the stage with a red fruit reminiscent of old red wine. In the mouth then again classic SWR. Dark chocolate and dry fruit with baking spices dominate. Wood is present but does not overpower the distillate. The SWR-typical bitterness is kept within limits. More roasty bitterness in the finish and then when it's almost over another spoonful of unsweetened red fruit jelly comes around the corner. Makes a lot of pass!New round with the new SBS together. This is the same stuff znd still tastes just as good as a year ago.

I really love this SWR!! Even more so than the 2 older bottlings from the same release (1994 and 1990) on the first sip I got burnt/brown sugar and cappuccino. Not as woody as the older releases. I'm getting some fruits as well. Really enjoyable! Very much full bodied with a long finish.

Blind tasting, so unfortunately only so not meaningful photo. Perceived the rum in the finish as something too woody-bitter, there are better comparable rums. But overall nothing that you would push off the edge of the bed.

Wieder ein Skeldon, der etwas von einem Port Mourant hat, aber trotzdem viel Schokolade, Karamell und Früchte. Das habe ich in meiner Skeldonverkostung am wenigsten erwartet. Würzig, Kaffee, Maggi, Lakritz, Fass. Im Mund und Abgang etwas zugänglicher: Schokolade und Karamell etwas präsenter. Insgesamt ausgezeichnet!

Wonderfully warm, deep and sweet nose, with very nicely integrated wood, although exactly this wood, furniture polish and the extremely sweet notes makes the rum somewhat one-sided. Overall, this is nevertheless very nice and there are also still clearly dried fruits and roasted nuts come out.In the mouth, it then drops significantly, much more barrel, wood, bitterness and roasted flavors than the nose suggested......schade. That gets the El Dorado overall definitely better, especially in the mouth

SWR (almost) always stings! Delicious bottling of this beautiful brandy, which is exceptionally sweet. Chocolate, dried fruit and raisins, but also berries, grapes and burnt sugar deliver a real variety of aromas. The nose is comparatively restrained (although I could perhaps give it more time in the glass...), but the palate is broad, complex and multi-layered with a medium-long finish. A very nice, if not inexpensive, bottling. Fun to drink!

Er verströmt ein tolles Aroma nach Kaffee, Holz und Karamell. Sehr röstig und intensiv. Diese Noten kommen dann auch am Gaumen durch. Mit einer unglaublich starken Note nach dunkler Schokolade und Mokka. Sehr cool. Im Abgang kommt dann noch etwas Vanille dazu. Ein wirklich toller Rum.

Compared to the El Dorado Skelton 2000, more sharpness from alcohol that is somewhat less well integrated (and also slightly lower). Overall, it is still incredibly good. Had I tasted it separately, I probably would have scored it higher.PS: Thanks Christoph for the sample!

Lovely burnt caramel on the nose and the palate with some red fruits (plums?) in the back. I imagine this is taste close to the stuff they use for colouring all the REVs ans SWRs with...It may be a one trick pony, but what it does it does quite well. I like it a bit more than most REVs I have tasted so far because this one here lacks the dried herbs note that irritates me. I hope the one "for the Nectar" comes close.

Very pleasant rum! Unfortunately, I’m not lucky (or wealthy 😅) enough to compare it with the Velier unicorn-like release..Anyway, really sweet, lots of red fruits, mou and cake-like flavors, all’ wonderfully mixed with oak and vanilla from the barrel.,long story short: if you can find one bottle, grab it, no questions asked!

On the nose: Wood, dark chocolate, coffee. Roasted. Its on the sweeter side but quite complex at the same time. Very good. Taste: Dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, wood. Its rich and complex. Interesting creamy, fudge-like mouthfeel. The alcohol could have been integrated better. Good level of sweetness. Finish: Good medium finish Woody. Coffee and vanilla. Just a touch of sweetness in there. This was good sipper. The only downside was that the abv could have been integrated better, so that drops the overall score down a little bit for me.

tasted together with the 2003 SVL from the SBS set. The 2001 SWR (Skeldon) clearly emerges as the winner here. It is incredibly round and smooth. Compared to the 2003 Skeldon from El Dorado, however, I would consider the El Dorado to be a tad better.

Nase: Süß und sahnig wie ein Karamellbonbon, leichte Röstnoten, Ein Hauch von Kaffee und holzigen Noten. Geschmack: dunkle Schokolade, Vanille, insgesamt sehr würzig, am Gaumen aber auch etwas bitter. Sobald die Schärfe des Alkohols etwas verflogen ist, tritt die Süße und Würzigkeit in den Vordergrund. Mittellange Abgang, in dem vor allen Dingen die würzigen und holzigen Noten dominieren.
