Moon Import Port Mourant Rum Demerara „Menses“ 1974

Most tasters adore the nose and feel the palate can't quite keep up. This 1974 Port Mourant gives you classic old Demerara: plum, espresso, wood and leather, with anise and floral hints many associate instantly with PM. The recurring gripe is dilution at 46% — several find it a touch thin and slightly bitter on the finish. Still, people call it a piece of "liquid history."

The community says
  • Rich plum-coffee nose
  • Classic old Demerara
  • But: Slightly thin palate

Old Port Mourant, gorgeous nose, thinner palate Loved for a rich, plummy, coffee-and-leather Demerara nose. Most agree the palate falls a bit behind — thinner and slightly bitter on the finish — but it's still cherished old-school PM.

This is a tasting from 06.08.2011 held at a local Spirits shop in Vejle. My notes about this rum. Very dark rum with strong roasted wood notes. Medium fruity with some chocolate, nuts and caramel.

Toller alter Demerara.
