Plantation Stiggins‘ Fancy Pineapple Rum
Poured into a cocktail is where this earns its keep — a naturally pineapple-infused rum that shines in a daiquiri, tiki drink, or with cola. Ripe pineapple leads on the nose with vanilla and caramel behind it. Neat it's soft, sweet and pretty one-note; several tasters find it too sweet or a touch alcoholic straight. The pineapple reads real, not chemical, to most.

Sweet, natural pineapple rum built for cocktails Most tasters agree: a lovely, natural-tasting pineapple mixer that lifts cocktails and cola. Neat it splits people — too sweet and one-dimensional for some, enjoyable on ice for others.

I'm biased here, as Stiggins was more of an introduction to 'better rum'. As an advocate for transparency in gin, this was ergo an epiphany in terms of rum - which I had previously known as an over-sweetened and/or flavored concoction. So the production information here was a promising enlightenment. And it remains so. I love this stuff. Super fruity nose but unobtrusive. Buttery, caramel and ripe, real pineapple on the nose. The same creamy sweetness in the mouth before the tingling pineapple comes through. Various layers of fruit and sweetness in between. Absolutely stunning in a daiquiri or rum groni. Addendum: super natural pineapple compared to everything else on the market. I fall in love with it again and again.

You can add a drop of water or two to release those flavours, but you can also let it rest for a while to get the same result. Price to quality is good.

Fruity & tropical, you can taste the pineapple but it is not artificial. It is really sweet, but called for in a lot of tiki cocktails. It is not that complex, mostly one dimensional, but tasty and approachable. Good value for use in cocktails.

This Plantation does exactly what it was created for... delicious cocktails. It is hardly enjoyable neat. Too sweet, too light, too one-dimensional. But, as I said, that's perfectly fine. Just back in the PinaColada 😋👍🏻

Great pineapple rum
Review by Rumpalumpa
Some good stuff for a flavoured rum as its naturally infused. It has a very distinctly fruity smell, that's not immediately distinguishable as pineapple for me. once tasded though it becomes clear. However, you can smell and taste that the rum itself hasn't aged too long, besides being cery sweet. I'm keen on trying it in some cocktails

The nose is already beautifully fruity of ripe pineapple without being too overpowering, light woody notes resonate, quite mild. The pineapple is by no means artificial, however, and you can clearly tell the difference between this and flavored spirits and the effort that has gone into it. But the price/performance ratio is really ok. The light woody notes harmonize very well with the fruitiness, the only slight sweetness rounds off the taste experience. Very creamy mouthfeel, surprisingly mild. You have to like pineapple, of course, but then it's highly recommended.

An interesting mixer for the bar. Defintly not something to drink neat but as a mixer it has its place. Very very sweet, and there is definitly a lot of pineapple! It would go well in a tropical fruit punch style drink. I didn't try it neat as I dont think that's the point of the drink, mixed with the likes of Lemon solo it makes for a very refreshing summer beverage!

very good as a mixed drink

Very pleasant mixer. Pure not quite a big number, but in the cocktail he comes very nice. Therefore 66/100

Not raring this as a rum, raring it for what it is. And for what it is, being a pineapple infused rum, it’s excellent. It’s not a pineapple spirit with an undertone Of rum, it’s still a rum, with a very pleasent pineapple flavor. Best used mixed, can also be drunk neat or on The rocks. Amazing in a daiquiri
Review by LukaŽiga
6,5:On the nose, the power and freshness of the pineapple are simply impressive. It's like having a freshly opened pineapple right in front of you. Vanilla and pear aromas follow. Rum is not forgotten, and also makes its presence felt. 6,3:On the palate, contrary to what you'd expect from a rum, it's not sweet. Fresh pineapple dominates the palate, followed by vanilla. 6,2:The finish is rather long, on a pleasant blend of pineapple and vanilla, which play off each other for quite a while...

Delightfully smooth, pineapple taste is quite subtle for me, but this isn’t necesssrily a bad thing when compared to other pineapple rums that ‘smack you in the face’ with pineapple, very nice to sip, excited to try out in cocktails

The nose has the expected big hit of pineapple but there are other fruit notes present. A butteryness which reminds me of younger Appleton Estate rums. The palate has green apple, vanilla, cream and a honey note all under the big hit of pineapple. The finish is quite short but nice. Pineapple with a hint of wood. Overall this is very good. Especially for a spirit drink. But no need for snobbery, I like this.

It's a must-have for the bar, either neat as an aperitif or digestif, or as a great base for cocktails. Pineapple is the dominant scent and taste, but nothing overdone. The recipe is very well mastered!
Review by FaoRouge
Surprisingly good on its own if you don't mind the sweetness. But it becomes "dangerous" when fruit juices come into play. Just a few ml will spice up any juice. And so you may be tempted to drink alcohol much more often!

Not many surprises with this rum: pineapple dominates the nose and palate. There's a little room left for vanilla and a toasted sensation. The whole is very round and sweet. Enjoy as a cocktail.

A pineapple bomb, but a very good one. Perfect for when you want a very sweet, intensely rich pineapple experience. Does not taste artificial, the pineapple aspect is as real as munching on a ripe fruit.

Read full review →Flavoured rums do not have the best reputation, but this one shows how it can be done. Here, artificial flavors from the chemistry lab are not processed on a grand scale, but the taste is produced in a natural way. Super cocktail ingredient.

Read full review →A real winner from Plantation and definitely one which deserves all the fuss. The score may change in time the simple answer to not scoring this higher is that I haven't tried enough rums like this so I don't want to overscore. Its very good stuff though! No doubt.
