Another old tasting with the following notes. Love the colour and vibrant nose. Agricole and freshness and it draws nice curtains.

Tasted this extraordinary rum at Rhum Fest Paris 2026 in the VIP area. It’s said to be Saint James greatest vintage together with the 1976. So expectations were high, maybe too high, cause I didn’t found it so exceptional as expected. It’s aged for 8 years in bourbon barrels. The nose is fruity, woody, roasted and spicy just as at the palate with scents and flavors of dark fruit, nutmeg, cocoa, mocha and leather. The finish is rather long.

Une vrai petit bonbon à la banane ! Voilà ce qui me frappe au nez. en bouche c’est parfaitement huileux, corsé, profond, même si la finale renvoie plus sur la noix et le rancio typique de ces vieux jus. Un moment profond et intense malgré le faible ABV. Excellent 👌 merci Greg !

The color is dark and vivid. The nose is very intense and enveloping, with very floral and mothballed notes of wood and leather as well as butter and red fruits. The palate retains the same aromas in a light and fluffy setting with added chocolate and a little pepper. Overall it is very full-bodied, syrupy and round, but less floral than the 1976
