The nose leaps out with glue, varnish and a pile of ripe pineapple, banana and mango; the palate is creamy, funky and full of esters with marzipan and cookie-dough sweetness underneath. At 62% the alcohol is remarkably well tucked in, though it still runs hot early. A long, dry, tannic finish closes it out.

The quintessence of Jamaican rum. The nose lets ripe exotic fruits and phenolic notes typical of Jamaica express themselves, then floral notes bring freshness while pastry and butter notes give an extreme greediness. The balance between tropical fruits and esters, glue and solvents is found in the mouth, with precious woody, spicy, pastry and toffee notes that make this rum sublime. It is round, complex, exuberant, oily, very full and aromatic in the mouth. The finish is long, elegant and of a rare aromatic intensity with mineral and olive notes that add to the fruity, phenolic and pastry notes. A rum of anthology with a rare aromatic complexity for 7 years of age.

Exquisite Hampden. Fans of the tropically aged high-ester representatives are offered a lot here - the tropical fruits meet the right mix of wood influences from the barrel, sweet pastry notes, some glue and spice. Hampden at its best - inspiring.

Heute gibts die absolute Champions League im Glas: Warren Khong Hampden, HV HGML, HV c<>h 2010. Im Vergleich zeigt sich der Warren Khong fast schon entspannt und elegant, sehr süffig. Der HGML ist der fruchtigste, unglaublich intensiv fruchtig. Mein Favorit ist aber eindeutig der C<>H, am intensivsten und mit dem längsten Abgang. Drei absolute top Rums! Mein Ranking hat sich über die Jahre hier nicht verändert.

This was the last tasting in Hague before going to Amsterdam the following day. A near perfect rum once rested for at least 15 minutes the nose and palate evolve into something really exciting. The nose is funky and fruity with varnish, ester, vanilla and nuts as well as light wood. The palate is funky, dry and maybe for some a tad too bitter. But I like it a lot. Fruit and spices are well balanced with light notes of varnish. The finish is extremely long, dry and bitter with fruits and spices. When released then price to quality was very good. Even if you find a bottle today I think it'll be well worth the price.

This is hampden at its finest! The nose just leaps out of the glass to meet you. Wonderfully funky, just the right amount of esters. Glue and varnish, then lots of tropical fruits. So Complex. A wonderfully long and dry finish. Really worth giving a try.

9:On the nose, esters, glue and varnish, overripe tropical fruits like banana, citrus fruits, roasted wood with nuts, pastry, spicy and oaky, briny olive, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, pineapple and mango are out, the molasses is flowery, perhaps we notice marzipan. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is delicious, balanced with overripe, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, later citrus and red fruits, slightly funky, medicinal with esters and solvents, later glue, dry, the wood is roasted with biscuits, toffee and marzipan, spicy, as the molasses is flowery and vegetal with briny olive...on oxidation, the rum becomes slightly astringent. 8,9:The finish is long, dry and tannic with roasted, slightly smoky and spicy wood, oaky and nutty, with toffee and confectionery, the molasses brings olive, is mineral, plenty medicinal notes are still here, so are tropical and citrus fruits. Golden color and quite viscous rum for a 7 years old. The Baklava is in the nose with its almonds, its honey, ... And of course the ripe fruits (banana, orange, pineapple). It's quite crazy and attractive as a nose! In the mouth it is TNT, we feel the 62% but ultra well integrated and greedy. It is fruity and full of esters. One believes oneself in a laboratory in full synthesis of the new nail polish of Dior. In conclusion, if you have strong enough (financially), get it.

A nose with typical Hampden esters, very ripe tropical fruit. A touch of solvents, glue and wood in the background. The palate is expressive, full of ripe tropical fruit, lightly oaked with a buttery, pastry-like taste. The finish is long, still with ripe tropical fruit. Dégustation d'un sample de 5cl. 👃 Bombe tropicale funky et fruitée à souhait. Beaucoup d'ananas Victoria très mûrs et sucrés. Pâtisseries aux amandes, crème, douceur et vanille. Toute sorte d'autres fruits tropicaux en plus de l'ananas se révèlent petit à petit (banane, mangue, maracuja, jackfruit). Fine fragrance de fleurs de frangipanier. Les vernis, colles et autres laques à cheveux sont très élégants. Les classiques saumure et olives vertes en bocal finissent ce nez. J'y trouve l'odeur caractéristique des poissons fumés, séchés et salés. Maître équilibre entre la concentration des esters, l'intégration bluffante des 62° et les arômes ci-dessus. 😋 Whaaa! Explosion d'esters infiniment fruités. L'ananas sous toutes ses formes, en tranches fraîchement coupées sur le marché, gorgées de leurs jus, en confiture, en pâtisserie. Les mêmes fruits du nez sont fermentés et trop cuits, on ressentirait presque la fumée de la cuisson. Joli boisé, épices insulaires assez vives, amertume, olives vertes, citron combawa, légères salaisons. Une véritable claque en bouche. ⛳ Finale interminable, sucrée, salée, amère, qui fait saliver. Brumoise de fruits tropicaux, l'ananas en tête, mélangé à du sucre et du piment d'Espelette. Une touche gourmande entre dessert et confiserie à base de caramel (crème brûlée, toffee). Le combo esters-vernis-olive finie cette finale en beauté. ⛳ La concentration des saveurs fruitées et des esters est juste bluffante. À ce jour, c'est LE meilleur Hampden jeune et vieilli intégralement sous les tropiques que j'ai dégusté. MAJ. Toujours un monstre d'Hampden jeune, funky, intense et d'une précision hors pair. Il mérite amplement son 93.

Wie sehr ich diesen Rum liebe zeigt wohl die Tatsache, dass ich mittlerweile schon einige Flaschen horte! Abgesehen von älteren Hampdens (90/93) gehört dieser mit Abstand zu meinen Favoriten! Die perfekte Harmonie aus Estern, tropischen Früchten, Lack, Klebstoff und Keksen im Schwerpunkt, daneben noch Marzipan, etwas Holz und Gewürze begeistern mich bei jeder Verkostung aufs neue!

Color: Dark gold Odor: Wow ... delicious esters fill the room. Sweet of solvents, fruit esters and fruit. Creamy after latte and white chocolate. Baked pear with cream. Taste: Strong and spicy in the mouth. Initially spicy when sipped, then a sweet surge of fruit esters and Williams Christ pear brandy. Finish: Long and spicy with woody toffee. Dry in the aftertaste. 90 points

An exceptionally well-balanced nose of light esters, varnish, lots of fruit (including mango), and a hint of masterful vanilla. The palate is also superb, with an explosion of fruit where pineapple and citrus take over from the mango detected on the nose. Spices, solvent, glue. There's everything in this hampden, this unicorn!

Nose is a real explosion of flavours constantly evolving, really complex and amazing, very fruity with a lot of pineapple. The alcohol is integrated very well, still it's pretty hot in the mouth especially at the beginning. Finish is very long, with bitterness, fruits and a spicy side as the palate. The empty glass releases mixed flavours of olive, apple, clove and glue. An incredibly balanced, complex and tasty rum with a very large diversity of aromas.

I sampled this and needed to buy a bottle immediately. The best Hampden I have tasted so far. I am captivated by its complexity despite its young age. I love when Hampdens display sweet notes of marzipan, pastry, cookies, butter or creamy-caramely notes.

A hampden that rubs the perfection, its structure is impressive, a kind of multiface rum so much it is complex, in mouth it mutates permanently, the mark H is for me the best, because lends itself well to the balance chemistry / fruit / wood / solvent / pastry, for me it is the king, I have not tasted better at hampden, impressive.

I think, you should try adding “first final” and “second final” has this rum hovers slowly from fruits…. To something sweet, estherified and spicy then brings an elegant spicy olive… slowly.

What a treat of a Hampden. A well balanced powerhouse with fruit and ester and just a hint of buttery vanilla. This is a classic example of the prime days of Hampden before the necessities took over the warehouses. This is what Hampden hopefully will become
