#4472 15.11.2023 Sitting here thinking about mortality while enjoying a nice rum. Lost one of my young colleagues yesterday. At the same time major changes in our company has also started thoughts running around in my head. Remember to hug and cherish your family bacause you never know when it's your time. This rum is really nice and fruity with nice Agricole notes. Well balanced and ABV is well integrated. The palate is lightly oily with some chocolate. The finish is long and warm with some nice orange. The empty glass has some chocolate and light licorice.

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is like drinking a very nice, complex cognac with dried fruits, sweet vanilla, some spices, dark sugar cane notes as licorice with hints of candied fruits. On an aeration some orange, orange peel could be noticed, leather, as it is a bit roasted and nutty, perhaps chocolate.Nice depth, round and complex. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is with dried fruits, very like nicely aged cognac, dry, woody, notes of aged port wine, as jam figs. There is also darker sugar cane with leather, a bit mineral, spicy, with chocolate, nuts and some licorice. Tasty and balanced. 8,5:The finish is long, woody, very agricole with sugar cane, mineral, woody, juicy orange, dry and tasty as cognac, there are tannins, dried fruits, warm with spices, leather and tobacco..

Depaz

Avg Rating 8.1/10 over 140 Rums

Depaz is the rum born from a volcano. After Mount Pelee wiped out Saint-Pierre and his entire family in 1902, the orphaned Victor Depaz came back and planted cane on the very slopes that had killed them. The distillery he built in 1917 still stands at the foot of the volcano, and its agricole is among the most decorated on Martinique.
