Velier Le Rocher Clairin Ansyen 2017
Clairin drinkers looking for the tamer, aged end of the family will click with this one. Three years in cask rounds off the raw cane-juice edge and adds fruit and a touch of sweetness — pineapple, citrus marmalade, a smoky roasted finish. Several tasters blind-guessed a mid-ester Jamaican from Trelawny rather than Haiti. There's still a "dirty" cheesy funk lurking, but it stays polite.

Mischung aus Zitrone und Marmelade. Im Abgang Leder und fleischig. Interessanter Clairin.

The nose is dominated by apple, freshly picked and not washed with vegetal notes.In the mouth pleasantly sweet citrus jam with toasty hints and a touch of menthol which continues to hold in the finish.In between emerges here and there always a cheese note, does not have to be for me, but is exciting.All in all a really tasty Clairin

Die erste Nase überrascht mit ranzige Butter, Assoziationen zum Hampden Great House 2020 werden wach. Am Gaumen dann Schinken und Rauch! Der Räucherschinken wandert dominant in den Nachklang hinüber. Dies Art von Profil kannte ich bisher nur von Whisky! Alkoholische Schärfe ist nie zu spüren, sehr guter Rum!

Number 6 from the community tasting. Thanks Rumtata! Jamaica from Haiti - blindly I would have packed this into the Mid-East range from Trewlany. The rum is fruity and very round. This is delicious, but also a bit unspectacular because the Clairin-specific but very much in the background.

Hier muss man wirklich blind erstmal auf Haiti und clairin kommen. Nach Zeit im Glas schlägt die Ananas in der Nase richtig durch und führt uns nach Jamaica. Etwas dreckig bleibt es aber im Hintergrund. Am Gaumen dann etwas einseitig Zitrus. Dafür im Finish wieder präsent mit röstigen Tönen. Sehr ordentlich. Vielen Dank an RumTaTa und alle Teilnehmer am RumX Clairin Tasting. Hat Spaß gemacht und endlich hat der Rum nach Corona wieder geschmeckt 🥃

Danke an RumTaTa. Erstaunlich, was aus dem "Käsefuß" durch Lagerung so werden kann. Mit dem 22 Monate alten kann er aber nicht mithalten. Toll, wie die Lagerung Frucht und eine dezente süße hinzufügt und den sehr besonderen Geschmack des ungelagerten etwas zähmt.
