Don José RA Panama Rum 2006
Anyone who likes their Panama rum a little weird will get a kick out of this single cask. The nose is divisive — artificial citrus, glue, even disinfectant for some — but the palate flips positive: sweet, fruity, with cocoa, dark chocolate and vanilla from the bourbon oak. At 57.5% it runs peppery and hot, so it's a sipper for the curious, not an easy one.

#keinprofi Dieser Rum ist bestimmt besser, als ich ihn bewertet habe. Ich mag den stechenden Geruch ebensowenig wie die leicht rauchige Note. Gut, dass beides im Geschmack weniger hervortritt, als in der Nase. Interessant ist die pfeffrige Schärfe, die dieser Rum mitbringt. In meiner limitierten Erfahrung habe ich auch schon höhere Alkoholgehalte im Glas gehabt, die sanfter waren.

Super fruchtig in der Nase im Mund dann alkoholisch mit schokoladigen Noten aber eben auch pfefferig alkoholisch scharf. Wenn dieser Rum den Ursprung zeigen soll prima aber als easy sipper? No way

Nein ich rieche an diesem Rum nicht wirklich gerne, das kann man nicht gerade sagen. In der Nase relativ einseitig überlagert mit Noten von künstlicher Zitrus, medizinischer Desinfektion und viel Säure. Das alles sticht eher und auch wenn es nach einer gewissen Zeit wesentlich angenehmer wird, rettet das letztendlich nicht den sehr unrunden Eindruck Im Mund war ich dann positiv überrascht. Angenehm Süß, geschmeidig und nicht mehr wirklich aufdringlich. Die Frucht hat immer noch die Überhand, insgesamt wirkt jedoch alles viel ausgewogener. Was dennoch bleibt ist die recht künstliche Zitrusnote

This is a rum in the lower end of the price scale and it still performs pretty well. Fruity and sweet with some light roasted wood and spices. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is nice with some tobacco and chocolate.

Direkt nach dem Einschenken war außer einer neutralen Alkoholnote mit einem künstlich anmutenden, leicht seifigen Orangenaroma kaum Geruch vorhanden, weshalb ich zunächst dachte, es mit Desinfektionsmittel zu tun zu haben. Mit Zeit und Luftkontakt hat sich das Aromenspektrum des Duftes zum Glück erweitert, holt mich aber trotzdem nicht ab. Im Mund zeigt sich hingegen eine sehr ansprechende Süße mitsamt fruchtigen Noten, die nun durch das aktive Bourbonfass schön mit Vanille und Holztönen bereichert werden, was das Gesamtbild deutlich zum Positiven dreht.

Sehr ungewöhnlicher Panama Rum. Seltsame Säure, wenig Holz, viel zitrus, irgendwie leicht Klebstoff und Sirup-artig und nicht sonderlich ausgewogen. Andererseits kann man bei ~40€ für einen single cask Panama Rum echt nicht meckern.
