Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Solera (2. Edition)
One member calls it the best Zacapa they've tried — "more powerful and had a deeper taste" than the 23 and the Royal. Expect chocolate fudge, vanilla, raisin and caramel, all soft and very sweet, with no alcohol bite at 40%. A dessert-style sipper that beginners take to easily, though a couple of tasters find it one-note in the sweet direction.

Smooth, very sweet chocolate-vanilla dessert sipper Most find it the roundest, smoothest Zacapa — chocolate, vanilla and caramel, easy to drink. A few call it heavily sugared and a bit one-dimensional.

This is the Zacapa I like best. I think it’s better than both the “23” and the “Royal”. It’s more powerful and had a deeper taste. It’s also well balanced, smooth and len. Nose and palate is also sweet, fruity, spicy and woody.

This rum is pretty complex and very well balanced. The difference between Zacapa Solera 23 and this on is that it was matured for two more years!

On the nose, there are scents of melted chocolate, sweet wood and coating fruit. You know it's pastry/dessert from the start, but it's not too liqueur-like either. On the palate, it's smooth, soft, even very soft, no attack here, nor any sensation of alcohol present. I really get the sensation of melt, caramel, dark chocolate fudge style. It's pleasant, elegant, yes, but I'm not sure it's for me, sweetened gently, not liquorish but honeyed chocolate, I don't know what I'm dealing with, so particular is the ageing and it doesn't give the true age of this rum.
