Grays Arcane Extraroma Grand Amber
Sweet-tooth drinkers and anyone curious about cane-juice rum will get the most out of this one. Banana, coconut and vanilla lead, with a creme brulee softness and a clear fresh-cane note underneath. Several tasters find it artificial and spiced-rum-like, and almost everyone agrees it's very sweet — one member likens the finish to diced fruit cups. Easy to like, easy to overdo.

How does Grays Arcane Extraroma Grand Amber taste?
Aggregated from 149 community reviews.
Very sweet, banana-coconut cane sipper Divisive: fans call it fruity, floral and a friendly intro to cane-juice rum; critics find it too sweet and artificial, closer to a spiced rum. Sweetness is the sticking point.

Much too sweet for me and nothing I can recommend. Aromas of caramel, vanilla and spices is recognizable. At the palate it’s very sweet with flavors of fruits, banana, ginger, caramel and vanilla together with a certain roundness.

Had expected more. A note of banana, coconut and tropical fruit on the nose, then the same on the palate. A very fruity rum, but too fruity for me. I also find the finish too long with a bitter aftertaste.
Review by Rumpalumpa
I wonder if there are artificial flavors involved here, because my taste tells me it's spiced rum. But by far not the worst I've tried. The usual vanilla flavor with banana and coconut

Ultra-dosed “rum” that is only recommendable as a dessert liqueur or poured over ice cream (delicious btw). During aging about HALF of the content of the barrel for this rum is literally sugar syrup. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about the outcome for its flavor and how sweet it is. The bottle, however, is a triumph. Looks phenomenal.

Chemical and non-existent mid-palate

The rhum is distilled from sugar cane juice and you can taste that, although also here was re-sugared, the freshness of the sugar cane still comes out well.

Very fruity and fresh, banana and apple notes. Somewhat artificial aroma.

This rum is ideal for anyone that loves sweetness in their alcohol. It reminds me a lot of Lambs Spiced Rum (heavily reliant on the sweetness from cinnamon). Overall it has an alcoholic smells but it is overshadowed by the sweetness. It tastes great overall but would rather use it in mixers instead of straight. Still a good rum overall and would definitely consider it as a recommendation for anyone new to rum.

Trop sucré pour moi

Ok, you don't need it. It's horrific & terrible sweet.
Review by Rado Vito
It smells like mead full of almond with vanilla tones. The taste is a bit confusing for me, it is sweet from the beginning and than it change to be sour. If Don Papa was agricole, I guess it would taste the same. Well, long story short, if you want to start with agricole rums, this can prepare you for the long and beautiful journey without discouraging you. (Without knowing it has sugar sirup in it, I would rate it 6.)

Le nez est plus attirant que la bouche. la première gorgée est même décevante car on ne goûte pas grand chose. il faut le laisser un peu traîner en bouche pour se rendre compte de ses arômes

Lovely, vanilla and cocoa notes with mikd spiciness. Extraroma is extraordinarily well balanced. Sweet but in very reasonable amount while you can still taste the main component which is a pure sugar cane rum from Mauritius. Short to medium finish.
Review by DJ Wolfson
Very sweet, but in a pleasant way. Lots of citrus, and fruit. The after-taste reminded me of the pre-packaged cups of diced fruit from the grocery store.
Review by StormAK
