J. Wray & Nephew LTD. Blackwell Fine Jamaican Rum - Limited Edition 007
Don't expect Jamaican funk here — a few tasters point out you'd barely guess this comes from the island. What you get instead is a soft, dessert-like pour: wood, vanilla, raisin and toffee, with a warming caramel palate and a short finish. One member calls it easy "light relief" when you don't want to concentrate. Sweet-tasting despite no added sugar.

How does J. Wray & Nephew LTD. Blackwell Fine Jamaican Rum - Limited Edition 007 taste?
Aggregated from 41 community reviews.
Soft vanilla-caramel sipper, not very Jamaican A gentle, sweet-leaning sipper most find pleasant but unremarkable. Beginners rate it well; funk-seekers and experienced drinkers tend to shrug — vanilla-caramel with a short, quiet finish.

Most helpful positive review
This one is light, fruity and unexpensive fine rum. Ideal for beginners but no disapointment for any rum lover.

As a novelty rum, plus a low price, I was expecting much less and was nicely surprised. Not the Jamaican funk, but sweet with just a little burn. Mixed was good too.
Review by Beancheese
This is a sweet rum, almost dessert like, even if it isn’t actually dosed. But for a beginner or someone that likes an easy drinking, sweet sipper there’s more going on here. To keep it interesting. Wood and a load of different sweets scents on the nose - vanilla, caramel, raisin, almonds, chocolate. On the palate you get wood, vanilla and spice with toffee, mocha and some citrus. Not for me but I can see it appealing to many.

A strong nose of various fruits. Very good balanced rum with a light body and a solid finish. Great for beginners. Good value for the money.

A bit of a hair. Little dictator

Unfortunately ien a little too flat. But nice flavors.

It has a clear character while being easy going and enjoyable to sip. I don’t get a huge amount in the nose, maybe wood, vanilla, raisins. On the palate a warming vanilla caramel profile. Short finish with the vanilla carrying through. I think it’s a pretty decent value rum. I’m now at a place where most of my open (and closed) bottles are around cask strength, so actually I’m quite happy to have this bottle open for some light relief when I would like to sip some good rum but not feel like I need to give it too much of my attention to appreciate it.

260212 smagte den igen efter 3 år. Kan godt mærke at jeg har ændret smag Der er duft af toffee og werthers echte smagen er træ noter og nærmest ingen efter smag. Man mærker ikke at den skulle være fra Jamaica.

Read full review →This isn't a sweet or vanilla-ey as our favourite Tattoo Artists offering. In my view this isn't as good as Goslings Black Seal or Appleton VX. It's not a bad rum but it would need a heavy discount say to £15 per bottle to make me buy anymore. Very average
