TBRC Diamond Versailles Still KFM 2002
Demerara fans curious about the Versailles still's KFM mark are the target here. It reads unusually fresh for a 16-year-old — green apple, pear and grape up front, honey and a touch of glue behind, then a big wave of wood. Several tasters said it "needs to rest" before it opens. The palate turns spicy, anise-tinged and salty, with pencil-shavings and metallic notes typical of Diamond.

The bottle definitely needed some time to breath/settle in/how ever you want to call it. Still the KFM profile is quite different from other Versailles (especially at this comparably young age) with more fresh notes ie green apple and pear on the nose. Compared to the 2002 TCRL KFM, this one feels more dark and dominated by wood notes. Also I tend to prefer the fruitnotes in this one, leaning more towards red/dried fruits in my mind. Both surprisingly so, as the TBRC is two years younger and bottled at significantly lower ABV.

01.11.2019 Den Dansk Rom & Whiskyfestival This was my first visit to this two day event, where everything is included in the ticket. Also the first event where I have seen so many extremely drunk people. This event usually just has what's considered mainstream products, but luckily my friend had the right contacts so for a premium we had our own little collection to go through. Today I get free a free ticket if I want to attend 😊 A nice rum where the price matches the quality. Needs to rest and the wood is almost too dominant. Medium fruity with a spicy palate and a long finish. The wood was on my palate for a very long time.

This is not for me a typical kfm. Despite the 16 years, it seems fresh and fruity and less spicy-woody-roasty.First I have to think of grappa and have grape with quite a lot of green apple in the nose. The freshness also comes from lemon. Behind that I detect an almost floral honey sweetness. Young wood brings in some spice and out the back it seems almost herbal. Not incredibly complex, but that doesn't make it complicated either.Palate: yes, we're getting closer to a Diamond here. Forebodingly bitter, spicy and toasty. Seems a bit artificial and burnt with decent salty iodine, some maggi and anise. Neatly peppery as well. The fruit recedes somewhat behind it, but finds itself green apple.Solid in the end, but not a good representative of its kind.

Versailles TBRC. The Versailles still is not my favourite, green herbs and some sugar. It’s pulled together with seeetness to the point feels almost dosed but just about works. The rust and clinical metal notes come through but it’s not as pronounced as many and the sweetness mellows out the more medicinal notes.
