Chairman‘s Reserve Master's Selection (The UK Rum Club) 2011
Nine years in the cask and it drinks heavier than that number suggests — several tasters were genuinely surprised. Expect banana, burnt sugar, plum and black tea, plus leather and "dirty" Vendome funk running underneath. A few describe cherry and nougat; one poured it and smelled bourbon and butterscotch from across the room. At 59.5% the heat shows, but most say the alcohol sits well.

How does Chairman‘s Reserve Master's Selection (The UK Rum Club) 2011 taste?
Aggregated from 30 community reviews.
Rich, funky St. Lucia Vendome pot still Well-liked single cask with the classic Chairman's markers, cherry and burnt sugar. A couple of members found it slightly overrated next to sibling casks, and the heat needs a little time.

Oh my! That's just a rum that's been aged for 9 years? That's crazy! I'll have to take a closer look at this one. But it already has 88 points for sure.

Franconian Tasting Gang on 23.11.24 at Jarek. The Chairman's from WuDramClan had to serve as a comparison to this bottling. As a conclusion for me, this rum is a little overrated. Personally, I like the bottling from WDC a tick better.

Chairmans Reserve is one of my favorites in the rum world. Today a little wild tasting between 4 representatives. 1st UK Rum Club 2011, 9yr An average Chairmans on my tongue, which is basically already very good. Red fruits, citrus fruit, burnt sugar, spices and wood set the tone here. The alcohol is well integrated. 84 pts. 2. cigar store, 2010, 11yr Astringent on the palate and with a special musty wood-fruit note. Very tasty and also unusual. The finish is medium long with burnt sugar and fruit. 86 pts. 3. royal mile, 2011, 9yr Very smooth creamy on the palate, with more herbs than its peers. Dirty notes. 86 pts. 4th WuDramClan, 2009, 14yr Somehow a mixture of all the representatives of the tasting. Initially weak on the palate, then increasingly astringent and very dry, with lots of fruit, becoming increasingly herbal and woody with time. Very interesting, complex Chairmans. 87 pts.

Delicious St. Lucia ... more on the fermented fruity side with banana and mango. I like it very much on the nose. Also overpowering on the palate with fermented fruit and wood ripeness. Very tasty. You can take it with you without hesitation. A great Vendome.

12.03.2021 Happy tasting at a bygone bar. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, banana, plum, citrus, light earthy, light nutts, spice. Palate Warm, intense, wood, tannins, light roasted, dried fruit, plum, light nutts, faint chocolate, light spicy, light ginger. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, light medicinal, berries, ligh pineapple, medium spicy.

A pretty good St. Lucia, with a subtle nose, an intense palate and a somewhat unusual cherry flavor for me. Reminds me a little of a Ten Cane. If the alcohol had been better integrated, I would have given it a better rating.

A very clear number: Vendome Still in perfection. Strong black tea, sesame and thyme (zataar herb mixture), honey, papaya, cherry, banana, as well as leather saddle and roasted pecan nuts and camphor in the finish. Exceptionally well balanced and complex with just 9y maturation!
Review by Basti

In the nose: banana, wood and a bit dirty. The palate is similar with spice and chocolate. Long finish.

Franconian Tasting Gang - 23.11.2024: Tasted together with the Chairman's Wu Dram Clan. Nice dirty notes. Also banana and yellow fruit.a successful Chairmen's but slightly overrated in my eyes.
Review by Buddudharma
Once again a great Vendome. It is impressive how much weight and complexity is already present in the profile after 9 years of maturation. The typical markers of ester, tar, spices of all kinds and burnt sugar are there, with the dirty elements being relatively pronounced. The fruit notes are more in the background, but complement the profile well. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. Great stuff!

Amazing depth of flavour

Super Lucia! Eher auf der adstringierenden Seite, nicht so fruchtig.
Review by Schnubbii
Schöner Chairman's mit den typischen Markern, der aber noch etwas mehr in Richtung Nougat/Schokolade geht. Wirklich sehr nett und rund. Tolle Abfüllung!

Very good rum that it gets better with each sip. On the nose it has fruity notes - melon, dried apricot & banana. Also caramel and leather. On the palate it is a little hot and spicy, with black tea, fruit cake, banana and caramel. The finish has a definite papaya flavour, wood and spice. Also well priced.

I'm by no means a pro ...(have tasted 400+rums ) but I'm always drunk ... Poured to let it breathe and the room is filled with butterscotch and bourbon smells . Genuinely could smell it from my kettle which is about 3m away. Raisens ,caramel follow on the nosing of it , pecans, slight acetone and heavy cask . 2nd nosing banana and chocolate ( I know my brain is going nuts) I'm going in ...tatsing over about 5 minutes .. Front of tongue woody cask and the raisen note . . mid pallette rum and raisen now fills my whole mouth at a high strength .. The finish is looooonnnggg with that vendome cask wow ... Now added an ice cube (sacrilege I know) but find the ice changes the dimension of the drink Renosing changes to a sweetness of a bourbon cask , the ice has brought out the cask notes Ice kills the front pallette taste but from middle onwards takes you on a journey of a stunner of a rum caramel , toffees ,RUM in huge quantities ... Being honest on its own I struggle with more than 3 of these (I'm an overproof fanatic and most of my r drunk is over 50%) .... With ice I could sit and drink all evening ... I'm quickly hiding the bottle I'm even sucking the ice cube left in the glass Couple of drops of water and Swil next time Better than anything I have ever tasted from St Lucia
