Nobilis Hampden No. 2 C<>H 1993
"If you had to choose only one hampden, it could be the one," writes one taster — and the crowd mostly agrees. This 27-year continental C<>H pours out caramelized pineapple, banana, olive brine and a room-filling wave of glue and esters. At 65.8% it's a beast, but people keep calling the alcohol integration astonishing. A few felt the palate can't quite match that unreal nose.

Aggregated from 61 community reviews.
Powerful, funky old Hampden with a legendary nose Repeatedly named the best Hampden people have tasted, especially for the nose. Huge, funky, oily and long, with proof that vanishes into the fruit. A rare few say the palate trails the aroma.

Blown away - fantastic Hampden, maby the best i have had so far. Amazing nose - Fruity, fresh, yet suttle and sweet oily and amazingly pleasent and inviting. Taste is so smooth, even for the powerhouse of 65,8% abv that I sexy integrated in the fruity, light citrus, funky, oily taste with an amazingly long afterburner in the most pleasent way. So glad there is a bottle left on the shelf and some samples also. Amazing Rum Juice from Hampden! Cheers!

Really good Hampden! For me, the Nobilis 1993 still has the best nose I could try so far (olfactory the Essens Hampden, I can sniff it for hours) ...Taste he still does not need to hide ... definitely a highlight!

Has blindly very narrowly beaten the rum club and both TRC. The difference of 1 point is very close

An incredible rum. This nose is just outstanding. The taste is just a blast. Such great fruit and so complex. For me, the best rum I have ever drunk.

What a board! 💣 C<>H as it is written in the book! Much more beastly and funky than the 1992. Much more power and significantly more complexity than if it had been given a little more tropical maturation. Fully ripe caramelized pineapple, salty-sour olive brine, juicy mango with spicy ginger, velvety sweet white chocolate and caramel, lime zest, citrus marmalade and plenty of glue and esters. An incredibly beautiful thick and oily viscosity with a pleasant sweetness and an almost endless finish. Actually reminds me subtly of the 2010 warren khong Hampden... Really, really cool and quite rightly rated so highly!

A great continental Hampden, I love it.

insanely delicious - but expensive

Absolutely fantastic nose. Taste still exceptionally good, but no longer quite on par with the olfactory impression. But would also be almost too good to be true. Nevertheless, wonderfully complex on the palate with a mixture of fruit esters, heavy sweetness, wood and smoke - a terrific Hampden!

Incredible nose. I could smell the rum while the glass was still on the table. 🥰 It was exceptionally good in the mouth as well. Outstanding, one of the best Hampdens that I have tasted so far.
Review by Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪
The nose is incredibly expressive: power, esters, fruitiness ... of a perfect complex balance. This explosive C<>H mark is put on its pedestal with this long continental aging. It's great that solvent glue that emerges in the room for a long time ... The attack in mouth is astringent, the time that the mouth adopts this will-o'-the-wisp. Then we discover caramelized pineapple, olive, basil. A real tropical fruit cake overripe and full-bodied. The finish is endless and warm on grilled pineapple with a slight bitterness.

I was not fast enough so had to get a sample from a friend. The rum was sold out in less than 3 minutes! This is the best Hampden I have ever tasted. The balance and well integrated proof is a piece of heaven. The nose is truly Hampden from the moment you open and there is a lot of "fish" to it. What I mean is like the smell of sashimi at the sushi restaurant combined with the normal Jamaica funk. The palate is unique and pretty good. I just got a sample of the Golden Devil 27 Hampden and that one is even better.

A nose to fall in love with! Everything you expect from Hampden and incredibly concentrated and complex. Breathtaking!Still very good on the palate, but the high bar of the nose could not be held. Nevertheless, a real exception Hampden!

Now I've gone through all the relevant old Hampdens of the 90 & 93 vintages. I am and remain more in the "tropical storage" team and anyway in the "Guyana & Trinidad" team and with Jamaica more in the mid to low ester range. But a few of these popular rums have been able to stand out and shine. Overall, the 1993 Vintage appealed to me more and this release (together with the Salon du Rhum) remains a positive memory for me.

TOP Hampden. This is how the perfection should look! ... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distiller that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the "must try before you die" rums
