Berry Bros & Rudd Long Pond Jamaican Rum 1982
Most people rate this old Long Pond highly but note it doesn't taste like a typical Jamaican — 33 years in oak wiped out most of the ester funk. What's left is heavy, dark wood, roasted coffee, caramel and licorice, with pineapple and a little glue underneath. Several tasters love the bitter, tannic finish; a few find those bitter notes too dominant.

Great old Long Pond. Beautiful heavy wood notes. Long finish. Really outstanding. Hazelnut note. Noticeably better than the other Berry Bro LP82, RX899.

Very nice old and intense Long Pond. Of course, the taste is not comparable with new vintages due to the lack of ester. A completely different profile. Here you will find heavy and complex wood and spice notes. Great but relatively bitter on the finish.

The long maturation brings out the barrel notes here in a very harmonious way: clove, vanilla, coconut on the nose. On the palate: liquorice, roasted notes, dark chocolate and dried fruit. I like it very much!

A very nice Long Pond with a nice intense profile. Flavours are there from opening the bottle and only gets better while resting. Roasted wood mixed with fruits and spices. Well balanced and good ABV integration. I like the caramel in the profile. Made a note that the empty glass had coffee and very light licorice notes.

Nase etwas Zurückhaltend Orange, Zimt Zitrusfrüchte Muskatnuss und Papaya etwas Grünen Pfeffer und leichte Esternoten . Am Gaumen schön ölig... leichte Süße dann sofort Bitternoten Pfeffer Grüne Olive Orange, Karamell Kaffee und Vanille. Viele Bitterstoffe generell.

I wouldn't have recognized it as a longpond, age has erased its traces. Nevertheless, very good and round.

Beautiful, old low-ester LP. However, it is rather disappointing considering the price, as there are significantly more complex and aromatic rums for less money.
