Update 01.03.2025: Habe die unten genannte Flasche im letzten Jahr aufgemacht und bin weiter ein großer Fan dieser Abfüllung. Heute ist der RA im 2002er Crosstastings mit dem RdL#2, dem RC und dem TWJ für Macau die mir vertraute Referenz. Wie ich diese Nase auf dem GRF2021 für einen spanischen TDO halten konnte, ist mir völlig unverständlich. Die Nase ist heute ein echter TDL Prototyp mit reichlich Minze und gelber Frucht. Würziger als meine alten Notes vermuten lassen. Im Mund habe ich ebenfalls mehr Frucht und weniger Minze erwartet. Aber auch hier volle Breitseite Pfirsich-Minz-Eistee mit der unten geschilderten Falernumnote. Der Abgang ist für einen TDL überraschend Adstringenz und ausgesprochen grün. Die herausragende Stellung in dem Batch konnte ich heute nicht bestätigen. Er ist zweifellos sehr gut und in viellerlei Hinsicht ein prototypischer TDL, aber gerade der RC ist ihm schon sehr ähnlich. -2 Original 21.12.2021: Auf dem Rumfest ist der an mir vorbei gerauscht. Zum Glück bekam ich ein Sample, jetzt habe ich eine Flasche. Danke, Chris! Die Nase ist fantastisch: Minze, Ingwer, Cola, Grapefruit - hat irgendwie was von Falernum. Der Mund überraschend intensive Balance aus Zitrus und Minze mit etwas Ingwer. Der Abgang ungewöhnlich, die Bitterstoffe sind sehr frisch und pflanzlich: Grüne Paprika, Pepperoni. Klasse Rum!

The 200 T.D.L. usually rocks! Lots of menthol, herbs and a hay note. Plus an unpleasant sour note. For my personal taste, the 2002 T.D.L. vintage always has strong outliers on the downside. This bottling is one of those.

Palate: Woody aromas and a mentholated edge dominate. This gives notes of black tea or mocha on a smoky, even earthy background. The fruit is present, but difficult to perceive; it will mainly show through once the menthol and woodiness have passed. Good length on the palate. The alcohol is very well integrated, but it's still over 63%, which is a hefty figure! You need to take your time to enjoy it. As for me, a small glass is enough for the whole evening...

Hier kommt an der Nase Initial auch einiges an würzigen Aromen rüber, dazu etwas Holz und auch gelbe Früchte. Am Gaumen dominieren dann auch würzige/röstige/bittere Aromen. Fruchtige Aromen kann ich hier nicht rausschmecken. Insgesamt ist er mir eine Spur zu bitter. Edit: Gefiel mir jetzt beim erneuten Probieren doch etwas besser.

Good rum with a lot of fruits, herbal notes and wood among others. However, alcohol burns a lot especially in mouth. Dilution could have been a good idea to make it more gentle.

First off, the price tag is really good for this release. Very fruity with some added workshop notes and nice wood. I like the intense and warm palate, the nice curtains and the long warm finish that stays for very long. The empty glass is really nice after a while.

Tar, Menthol, Earthy, trop. fruits (if you give it some time) and a dominant leather smell. Trinidad classic dirty with mint, menthol, tar ecc. in the mouth. With an amazing long dry, delicious minty finish with menthol, barrel, mocha… I like it a lot! Pleasant to drink! Alcohol is very well integrated, you won’t notice the 63% in your mouth

Very tasty stuff with a wonderful combination of mint and menthol with grapefruit and grapefruit zest. Plus something earthy and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. I can't stop thinking about a fresh iced tea made from grapefruit and mint. delicious.

Sehr ausgewogener Vertreter mit klassischem TDL Profil, aber eher erdig mit leichtem Holz. Die typischen Mentholnoten sind weniger ausgeprägt als bei den 2001ern und im Direktvergleich mit dem letzten FRC 2009er schon fast zu zahm. Trotzdem super Abfüllung!

Sehr interessanter Rum aus Trinidad! Schon in der Nase kräftig Minze und Menthol. Aber auch fruchtig. Mir kommen Stachelbeeren in den Sinn. Am Gaumen spüre ich zuerst den hohen Alkoholgehalt aber dann nehme ich wieder die Facetten der Nase wahr ergänzt um Fassnoten und medizinischen Charakter. Der Nachklang ist lang und vielseitig, Minze und Fass dominieren.

The second vintage of RA TDL. In direct comparison, overall less mint and a little more caramel on the nose. On the palate also a little less minty for slightly woodier and overall rounder. In detail:Nose: spicy and woody with clearly fresh mint. Added currant and lime at the start, but also some smoke and muted caramel. I also think I perceive some licorice. Palate: incredibly tasty and harmonious. Sweet and spicy at first, then the fresh mint pushes massively across the palate. This also makes it seem slightly "dirty". After that comes more wood and again some licorice. Overall, both vintages are great TDL representatives.

Great TDL notes. The mint is wonderfully perceptible on the nose and palate. Nice and spicy and strong. For me, one of the best TDLs. Especially at the price. Only the 2001 from RA is still a bit more complex and the Excellence Rhum Trinidad 2003 possibly forever unattainable 😁😉. But I know of course also still far from all 😅

Hier kommen die ansonsten eher bei einem Caroni beheimateten dreckigen Werkstattnoten stark durch. Alkohol ist ebefalls deutlich spürbar. Dennoch sehr interessant und komplex.

aus dem 10GRF RA Tasting Set…an Gaumen und Nase rote Früchte, Menthol und medizinische Noten. Der 2001 TDL hat mir jedoch ein wenig besser gefallen (sollte den wohl noch etwas höher bewerten 🤔).

I was surprised, I wasn't expecting this: a rather dirty profile all the same, rubber and leather. But delicious exotic fruits emerge and it's very good. Unfortunately, it's too marked by menthol for me. With a few years less, it would certainly have been perfect.

Tasted in the hotel bar in the evening. Thanks to MrRumantic for the dram for now. Personally, I'm no longer so keen on this T.D.L profile, as there's been so much standardized mush in recent times. But I liked this one again.

Verkostet gegen TDL CDI 2003 / RX1629, TDL RC Ed. 44 / RX19670 und TDL RdL 2002 / 15565. Alle 4 Rum durften ca. eine halbe Stunde atmen. Nase: Der RC 44 ist in der Nase etwas verschlossen, dezent nimmt man aber helle Früchte und ganz leicht Minze war. Der CDI 2003 ist noch verschlossener, einzig etwas Mirabelle oder Pfirsich nehme ich war. Beim RA 2002 finde ich ganz leicht Karamell. Der RdL 2002 ist ebenfalls ziemlich verschlossen, hier finde ich nur ganz leicht helle gelbe Früchte. Gaumen: Der RC 44 ist für einen 2002er am Gaumen vergleichsweise krautig und bitter und weniger süß. Die hellen gelben Früchte sind etwas im Hintergrund und dafür hat er mehr Kräuter. Etwas Wasser hilft ihm nicht unbedingt, sich weiter zu öffnen. Der CDI 2003 ist im Vergleich floraler, etwas fruchtiger und süßer und auch weniger bitter. Auch der CDI 2003 wird mit etwas Wasser nicht unbedingt besser, aber süffiger. Beim RA 2002 finde ich im ersten Moment leicht Karamell, dahinter dann helle Früchte und eine leichte Bitterkeit. Mit etwas Wasser öffnet er sich noch etwas und wird süffiger. Eine schöne, ausgewogene Kombination aus hellen gelben Früchten und Minze und dazu im Hintergrund leicht Karamell, Dreck und eine krautige Bitterkeit. Der RdL 2002 ist vom Profil her dem RA 2002 sehr ähnlich, aber für mich noch ein gutes Stück komplexer und ausgefeilter, facettenreicher. Alle Aromen des RA sind vorhanden, aber hier noch einmal auf ein höheres Level gehoben. Etwas Wasser hilft, das ganze Spektrum an Aromen noch etwas besser wahrnehmen zu können. Einfach ein richtig toller Rum! Abgang: Der Abgang ist bei allen 4 TDL in etwa gleichlang, wobei beim CDI 2003 etwas mehr die Minze anhält, beim RA das Karamell und beim RdL das volle Aromenspektrum nachhallt. Ranking: 1. Jetzt komm ich endlich Mal zu einem meiner Lieblingsrums. Und was soll ich sagen. Intensiv dreckig und gefühlt schmeckt der jedes Mal anders so mag ich das. Diese Flasche ist jetzt auch schon ne Weile auf und hat vielleicht ein bisschen was verloren schmeckt aber immer noch ausgezeichnet. Für mich ist diese Abfüllung immer noch etwas unterschätzt. Einfach toller Rum 🥃😋

Tolle, komplexe und fruchtige Minznase. Im Mund geht es eher Richtung Menthol, dabei aber recht holzig-röstig was mir im Abgang etwas zu doll und adstringierend wird. Dennoch wie bei nem 2002er TDL erwartet ein super Rum. Ich finde hier den neuen RC No. 44 vielleicht tatsächlich besser.

Für mich besser als sein Bruder aus dem Jahr davor. In der Nase etwas zurückhaltender, was wohl auch an der dominanten Minz-Note der anderen Abfüllung liegt. Mir persönlich war das eine Spur zu viel Minze oder ich musste Lust darauf haben, hier nur ganz dezent vorhanden, eher in Richtung Menthol. Am Gaumen liefert er jedoch etwas mehr, vor allem dreckige und rostige Aromen. Gefällt mir sehr gut! Anmerkung: kein direkter Vergleich mit dem TDL 2020, der Vergleich kommt noch

Super exciting nose: first sour dirt and then develops in the background fresh garden soil on which ripe fruit has fallen. In the taste, the fruit then gives way entirely to the dirt while the finish is again very warm and fruity. Trinidad fans will love in, all others will like him less because he is already very violent.

Auch dieser "TDL" ist wieder ein dreckiges Brett ;-). An der Nase kommt er für mich aber nicht an den 2020er ran, dieser hier ist nicht ganz so dreckig und ein wenig fruchtiger/floraler. Im direkten Vergleich würde ich ihn leicht hinter dem 2020er einordnen.

Opět se zde ukazuje kvalita rům od Rum Artesanalu. Tentokrát se jedná o perfektní, komplexní TDL. Intenzivní máta, trocha ovoce a trocha té trinidadské špíny se nabídne na nose, posléze se potvrdí v ústech a závěr je velmi příjemny.

Krasne matovy na lahev pod 100e. Sice je citit alkohol, ale velmi dobre pitelny. Doporucuju i zacinajicim rumarum pro objeveni novych chuto. Mata z TDL je nezamenitelna chut, ktera se vam nikdy neomrzi.

Velmi dobré TDL. Jemné, silné. Krásný mentol, alkohol výborně integrován. Hodnotil bych ještě lépe, ale vůně není nijak moc výrazná, aby si to zasloužil. Jinak ale velmi dobrý kousek, který mohu rozhodně doporučit.

A great TDL and in comparison with the 2002 Cadenhead (RX16680) I prefer this bottling here by far. It is way more complex (more herbs, spices and more on the tropical side) and got noticeably more power.

Ich brauche dich tatsächlich etwas Wasser bei den knapp 64 %. Aber der verträgt es. Wird angenehmer und es kommt ein wenig Ester hervor. Kräuter, vor allem Rosmarin. Südfrüchte und irgendwo hinten am Gaumen Leim. Spannend und lecker.
