One taster called it "a solid offering," and that's the honest read: a continentally-aged Port Mourant with green pepper, anise, licorice and a mineral graphite note in the finish. Marzipan and citrus round it out, but at 66% the alcohol is loud, and a few felt it lacked the depth of Velier's tropical Demeraras. Heavy, oily, classic Uitvlugt.

First of all - even if Velier is very strongly associated with tropical maturation, this release is the result of continental storage. We can expect a harmonious PM profile with pleasant complexity, plus mineral graphite notes on the finish, reminiscent of the Versailles style. Unfortunately, the alcohol is very present, which for me results in deductions. All in all, however, a very good representative of the vintage.

Classic continental matured Uitvluigt profile with lots of green pepper, aniseed, licorice, as well as some nutmeg and apple. There is not much complexity here. Intense, rather young wood notes and overall very heavy and oily. Unfortunately, the alcohol integration is also not very successful and really detracts from the whole thing. Besides, I've never been a fan of continental matured Uitvluigts, thanks to this unfortunately intensely subtle disturbing pencil and licorice note for me, sorry... And since when has Velier been bottling continental matured rum?

11.01.2020 - 12.01.2020 Splitting some samples over two days. Notes. Dark in colour. Nose: Intense, wood, light roasted, citrus, medicinal, light marzipan. Palate: Intense, round, wood, herbs, anise, oily, citrus, licorice. Finish: Long and warm, wood, roasted, anise, dried fruit, citrus, marzipan.

... Stare Velier Demerara rumy je to nejlepsi, co v rumovem svete muzete ochutnat. Rumy zraly spise omylem nekolik let v tropech a nikdo obsah sudu nedoplnoval. Andelska dan byla 90% a vice, proto je chut obzvlaste plna a intenzivni. I kdyz se jedna o extra drahou zalezitost, doporucu alespon jednou v zivote ochutnat rum z teto serie.

Continental PM, spicy, marcipan, anoze, mineral, roasted nose, nice wood, on the palate you can find spicy&mineral notes, licorice, brown sugar, anize, appricot. Rather strong alcohol is present which rather overrun finish. Very nice continental PM profile but impact of alcohol negatively impact the the whole experience.

I am sure this was one of the worst Demerara velier I have tried, tried it when the bottle just opened, not much expressive character, just a regularly EU aged PM notes, not a big fan of it
