Foursquare ECS IV Zinfandel 2004
Sips easily neat, no ice needed — this is a light, "easy sipping" Foursquare where the Zinfandel cask brings red forest fruit, raisin and a bold oaky wine note over vanilla and caramel. Sweet but not heavy, slightly dry finish. The recurring gripe: at 43% several tasters find it thin and diluted, wishing for a few more percent.

How does Foursquare ECS IV Zinfandel 2004 taste?
Aggregated from 75 community reviews.
Fruity, easy Foursquare, a touch light Well-balanced, fruity everyday Foursquare with a genuinely good red-wine finish. Most enjoy it; the common catch is that 43% leaves the body feeling light and the finish short.

super beginner sipper ! Can easily keep up with indelible. One of the very few extremely successful red wine finishes for me. Noticeable and intense but without dominating the rum. For 50€ at the time, an incredibly cool bargain. Could of course have a few % more, but it's super uncomplicated and delicious without being tiring or boring... Just easy sipping.

good but due to the low ABV a lot of flavor was destroyed ....The issue price was the right price for such a reduced rum .... too bad.

This is a super fruity rum and luckily I have a bottle plus a backup one just in case. The nose is mild and fruity with vanilla and some barrel. In the back i pick up some varnish. The palate is complex, well balanced and slightly dry. Again fruity with vanilla and smoky oak. The fisish is long, lightly dry and has raisin and roasted oak. The day after the raisin and roasted oak is even stronger in the glass.

Revisiting this Foursquare classic. It is undoubtably very good rum but falls a little flat for me compared to the more recent ECS releases, it feels underweight at 43% ABV and the mouth feel muted as a result. Well balanced, vanilla and red fruit notes on the mouth but a bit light. Smooth short finish with hint of sweetness and tropical fruit. It’s good but in the new world of full strength rums it’s one you buy as it’s FS rather than on quality alone in my view

Heavy on the oak and the red (forest fruits). The Zinfandel influence, which is a bold oaky red wine, is very present...but it works. Winterly spices. Sweet but not too sweet. I'm not that insulted by the "low" percentage of 43%, just start with this and everything will be alright. Different than modern Foursquare too...less glueish.

Fruity on the nose, alcohol simultaneously biting and weak, somehow diluted overall.

Bottle at around 65e, it's quite expensive but I really like it, to be tasted again later, a little disappointed by the finish which doesn't really stand out, it's quite balanced and easy to drink, you have a good time without really getting carried away or being exceptional.

... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday drinking. It is a rum that will be appreciated especially by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.

The color - gold - yellow more than brown The nose - vanilla, caramel grapes The taste - I think I got some old sample because I am really not sure how it should taste. Super easy sipper - i agree, but I don’t feel any fruits, the taste is quite mild, only the aftertaste is present..warm, dry. Its not complicated, not complex rum…maybe i have already higher expectations from Foursquere..so not bad but also definitely not awesome.

Nose impression is average with vanilla. Taste is sweet with fresh frozen wine body and dry aftertaste. 43% wau, very full and good.

Blind tasting: vanilla, caramel, some tobacco and leather. For the first 5-10 minutes, I thought it was a Spanish rum. But with a little time, the typical Fouresquare aromas emerge. Brine, almonds and cinnamon become present with time. The palate then reveals a light, highly diluted rum at 43-44% from a column style or a blend with a very high column content. Typical irrelevant Spanish aromas... The finish is medium-long and dry. Not quite my cup of tea. I'm guessing a ~10 year old rum from Foursquare Distillery at 43-44%. 67 points

Read full review →The only slight criticism would be the screw cap. I can counter that argument with the following - this isn't a rum that will be sticking around long in your collection unless you buy multiple bottles. Which is one thing I'll be doing!

The Zinfandel Cask is really overpowering everything here. Together with an unpleasent bitterness in the end that seems to come from the cask. FS can be better...
