Goes unfortunately so not at all to me Ran. Much too much smoke, vinegar and bacon for my taste ... Also in the daiquiri has's only what of fermented fruit turned into vinegar. Had I hoped for more of... while I'm otherwise really a fan of clairin...

#5047 17.01.2025 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Medium intense, fresh, fruits, apple, olive, berries, light herbal, light smoke, light prunes. Palate Round, fresh, spice, fruits, light banana, faint tomato, light smoke, light prunes, light salt, olive, faint floral. Finish Medium long, light oily, fruits, faint tomato, olive, light smoke, light banana, light pear. The empty glass has grass, banana, sugarcane and a touch of oregano.

That's a bit of an experience ! I'm glad I don't have an entire bottle. Nose : cheese, old socks (not kidding), vegetal Mouth : bbq, smoke, it's more of a mezcal Really not my thing

Not quite my cup of tea. The taste lacks fruit for me; smoke, bacon, olive and yeast dominate.

A very interesting nose. Lots of green olives, banana and there's something mineral, almost the smell of chalk dust off an old school blackboard eraser. Further nosing brings notes of smoked bacon. Different, but all very pleasant and keeps you coming back for more. Green olives notes come through first on the palate. The bacon notes from the nose are there but as a more a greasy spiced sausage, like chorizo. Sugarcane and cardamom are also present and possibly horse radish. The finish is medium to long and quite spicy. The horse radish mixes with cloves and black pepper but in a subtle way that isn't too much. Overall its another fine Haitian rum. Not my favourite but I'm glad I've tried it. As with all Haitian rums, this is not going to be to everybody's taste.

Quite firm and fermented, rather balanced, smoky, a good clairin.

This is a really interesting! So much flavor that is unique… Bryney and olive with herbs. Nice finish.

Probably one of the most interesting aftertastes I’ve tasted in a rum. It had a more standard nose but the taste surprised me with maintaining the floral notes. The aftertaste transitions to some nice smokiness.

"A crystal-clear liquid appears in the glass, which leaves fat streaks on the glass wall when swirled, which only flow down again slowly. This already suggests a lot of aroma. The nose offers lots of herbal, grassy sugar cane notes and a fermented, sweet and sour note that almost tends a little towards vinegar. On the fruity side, I am reminded of limes and green fruit. There are also a few olives and something meaty. I can also detect slightly salty and medicinal aromas. The alcohol is initially quite intense and the aromas quickly spread throughout the room. On the palate, I am initially quite surprised. In addition to the grassy, floral aromas, I find smoke and a certain minerality. This brings back brief memories of a very delicate mezcal with a lovely sweetness. I can also detect the fermented vinegar note, the olive and the bacon. The finish remains the same, with an increasing spiciness and a subtle sharpness that I can't really place. It's definitely not pepper. Neither is ginger. It doesn't really matter, the main thing is that it tastes good. And it does! Saint Benevolence works just as well in a drink, even if you have to adjust the drinks a little. We tried it in a daiquiri, but also in a caipirinha, and the result convinced us. In the end, the grassy-floral aroma remained in the drink."Read full review →

"I tried it in a Caiprinha and it worked well. The smokiness worked really nicely and more of the sweeter vegetal notes shone through. This is not going to be for every rum drinker - it's certainly not your average white rum or even rhum. Definitely one for the more..."Read full review →
