Pusser's Rum Original Admiralty (Blue Label)
What catches most people off guard is the nose: rich burnt sugar, coffee and dark chocolate that promises more than the palate always delivers. This Guyana blend is a full-bodied everyday rum — caramel, toffee, roasted spice and a touch of dried fruit — with a slightly alcoholic, thin body some notice at 40%. A navy classic many keep around mainly for mixing.

Coffee-caramel navy rum, great in cola Most tasters call it a rich, coffee-and-caramel everyday rum with a lovely nose. The common catch: the palate can feel thin, a bit hot, and less exciting than it smells.

solider Mix Rum!
Review by Stefan Persson
This rum saw the light of day when Pusser’s looked over its range some years ago. Before the “Blue Label” was available in a version with a 54,5% ABV. This stronger rum was then renamed “Gunpowder Proof” and the new “Blue Label” gained a strength of 40%, or 42% in some markets. Over time its been found in various blends. Initially with rum from Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados. Then with rum from Guyana and Trinidad and finally nowadays it just contain rum from Guyana. The one reviewed here is the latter. Overall it’s a quite rich and full-bodied everyday rum that is very good value for money.

Very distinctive rum. I cannot say it is a good rum, but it is full of curious olfactory surprises. In my opinion it renders better in the nose than in the mouth. Many nuances on the nose, coffee and well-roasted caramel predominate on the palate with a faint woody note. Medium finish with coffee predominating. The banana that I felt lightly on the nose disappeared on the palate. Fun rum for an out-of-the-box tasting.
Review by Timo Groeger
A Dirchschnittsrum as it stands in the book. Has a spicy nose in which wood is also recognizable. On the palate, the barrel clearly dominates. You can also detect coffee, toffee, dark chocolate and spice. Solid.

#5004 28.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples while home alone 😊 Nose Wood, faint smoke, fruits, raisin, light cherries, faint nutts, spice, light caramel. Palate Wood, light roasted, medium dry, light oily, light orange, light caramel, faint chocolate, spice, light cherries. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, spice, light dry, light caramel. The empty glass has light herbs and prunes. Tried it in a Coca Cola with a good shot of rum and it did pretty well.
Review by Rumpalumpa
Surprisingly how much rum is in here. Of course, quite simple and mainly for mixing, but it embodies in essence the aromas I primarily associate with rum: caramel, roasted spice, and some dark fruits.
Review by abaker-rum
This rum is on the sweet side throughout. It is a caramel and vanilla bomb from nose to finish. The taste and finish are both sweet. From experience this rum is great for rum cake, it makes a great syrup and rum icing.
Review by Gregor
This rum was one of the first I have ever drunk. Unfortunately, I have to say that my taste has changed in the meantime so that this no longer appeals to me as before. But he is still good and suitable for beginners who want to dare slowly away from sugar
Review by Tim
Seems like a young rum from Guyana, which is still too strong with a biting and pungent alcohol plume. Smells quite sharp at the beginning, has very briefly reminded of a spicy mustard or herbs :-D But typical notes are already recognizable, such as the unmistakable woody and toasty chocolate-caramel-fruit mix. In the mouth a bit thin and mild, if then a bit spicy and sweet, but definitely roasty and chocolaty. In the finish sweet, fruity and toasty.
Review by Skyfly
Review by Godspeed
Such a classic. Color: Classic deep golden hue Nose: Classic demerara goodness, slight burnt notes, pipe tobacco. Mouth: A far more balanced and even-keeled profile to many other demerara’s who often have more outspoken burnt tones. Spice, dried fruit (raisins especially) and the touch of burnt dark wood. Finish: Outstanding and longish finish with a very welcome uptick in flavor strength to finish off your sip. Pusser’s original admiralty rum with the 100% Guyanese content and bottled at 40% is one of those classic treats as a rum lover. It will remind and reinforce in you why you love rum so much. A staple in my rum collection. Excellent both as a sipping and cocktail rum. Recommended for any rum cabinet.

Not so great, I expected more. But with cola and limes, it works out👍

My mixrum for tiki drinks.Compared to the El Dorado 8; smell much more pronounced burnt cane sugar and less woody. Taste milder and sweeter; also less wood.
Review by kudzey
It delivers despite low proof. Easy going with rich aroma. Absolute winner of the price/quality ratio bit just a normal winner otherwise 😜. The taste lacks complexity and intensity.
Review by wrighty03
Very good, vanilla, not too sweet, incredibly well balanced.
Review by Matiss
A very pleasant rum for sipping and mixing!! Very affordable costs around 25 eur. In exchange you get a pleasing, fruity rum with a nice touch of vanilla, mild spice. Very little alcohol burn. If available, be sure to grab a bottle, it is a very nice rum.

I had a full bottle back in the days, nowadays only sample to retaste but honestly I like the 👃 more than 👅. That was my opinion back then and it is now as well. Very heavy Guyana and one must be in the mood for it.

Review by Business Liner Ralf
Überrascht über die Süße. Als Original Admiralty Rum hatte ich auf Fassstärke gehofft. Runder Geschmack.
Review by Necron
Not my first time tasting this rum. It is a decent one that manages to blend well the spices with the strong alcohol taste it carries. Overall it is not a top tier rum but I still identify it as a pleasant experience.
Review by Mateusz
First time tried and very likeable. Sweet cut by nice bitterness of burnt sugar/caramel. Lovely stuff and good value!
Review by Schorgelorsch
Review by Mark Leggett
I have the 42%. Aromas of oak, banana, caramel and a touch of fruit. Flavor of dried figs, hints of spice, barrel and banana. Good as a sipper and I know it's used in many cocktails.

Zaujímavý, suchý, výborná cena 23, dobrý do micov určite, taká spalenost dubu a káva, také akoby trochu neprirodzene
Review by FL_RumRunner
I am not personally a fan of the heavy funkiness in any rum. Pussers has a lot of that funkiness which I think also surprised me as I generally expect the high level of funkiness from a Jamaican rum. The funkiness just overpowered everything else except for the sweet molasses nose that I got after some time. Not a bad rum, just not for me. If funkiness is your preference, this is a good option for a reasonable price.
Review by Montana
Quite a fruity smell, also spicy and woody as it goes on, some dark chocolate. Toffee, spicy, some dark chocolate, quite dry finish.

Zaujímavý rum,no nie na každodenné pitie.
Review by MJ72
Pussers Einstieg, etwas Alkoholisch in der Nase, Apfel ,Holz und Frucht, im Mund moderate Süße mit Frucht, Vanille und leichtem Holz. Kurzer, angenehmer Abgang

Good value for money for a Guyana suitable for gourmet cocktails 🙂🙂

Very good value rum can drink neat and mixed worth trying
Review by Jakob Deiner
Spannend... Drinks: - Pur: 4/5 - Rum Cola: 3.5/4 - Rum Punch: 3.5/5

First time I tried it was one of my favorites, and usually have a bottle around to mix with lime juice. Then after some years they changed the formula and wasn't the same. It wasn't bad but not as good as I remembered.

Maple syrup, with a hint of umami.
Review by Holger
Aldehydes at the beginning. The sharpness in the mouth develops. Becomes increasingly spicy. Medium body, spicy and dry. But surprisingly not a delicacy, quite the opposite of the Pusser's 15y.

Read full review →So, on first sip, Pusser's British Navy Admiralty Rum didn't really appeal to me. It smells lovely of coffee and dark chocolate, but the body is a bit alcoholic. Another sip will help, revealing a caramel-woody, lightly spiced flavor and a not-too-long tail. Considering the price, however, this is a decent rum that will certainly not offend. Rum suitable for casual sipping or mixed drinks. 68%

Read full review →It can be a sipper but I just find it amazing when mixed liberally with cola. As I've said before not everyone will like Pussers Rum, but then again not all of us are blessed with exquisite taste. For those lucky enough get yourself a bottle of this wonderful winter...
