This rum saw the light of day when Pusser’s looked over its range some years ago. Before the “Blue Label” was available in a version with a 54,5% ABV. This stronger rum was then renamed “Gunpowder Proof” and the new “Blue Label” gained a strength of 40%, or 42% in some markets. Over time its been found in various blends. Initially with rum from Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados. Then with rum from Guyana and Trinidad and finally nowadays it just contain rum from Guyana. The one reviewed here is the latter. Overall it’s a quite rich and full-bodied everyday rum that is very good value for money.

Pleasant and nice.

Very distinctive rum. I cannot say it is a good rum, but it is full of curious olfactory surprises. In my opinion it renders better in the nose than in the mouth. Many nuances on the nose, coffee and well-roasted caramel predominate on the palate with a faint woody note. Medium finish with coffee predominating. The banana that I felt lightly on the nose disappeared on the palate. Fun rum for an out-of-the-box tasting.

A Dirchschnittsrum as it stands in the book. Has a spicy nose in which wood is also recognizable. On the palate, the barrel clearly dominates. You can also detect coffee, toffee, dark chocolate and spice. Solid.

A very pleasant rum for sipping and mixing!! Very affordable costs around 25 eur. In exchange you get a pleasing, fruity rum with a nice touch of vanilla, mild spice. Very little alcohol burn. If available, be sure to grab a bottle, it is a very nice rum.

#5004 28.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples while home alone 😊 Nose Wood, faint smoke, fruits, raisin, light cherries, faint nutts, spice, light caramel. Palate Wood, light roasted, medium dry, light oily, light orange, light caramel, faint chocolate, spice, light cherries. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, spice, light dry, light caramel. The empty glass has light herbs and prunes. Tried it in a Coca Cola with a good shot of rum and it did pretty well.

solider Mix Rum!

Surprisingly how much rum is in here. Of course, quite simple and mainly for mixing, but it embodies in essence the aromas I primarily associate with rum: caramel, roasted spice, and some dark fruits.

Zu süß und Kaffee (ich mag keinen Kaffee)
Review by abaker-rum
This rum is on the sweet side throughout. It is a caramel and vanilla bomb from nose to finish. The taste and finish are both sweet. From experience this rum is great for rum cake, it makes a great syrup and rum icing.

I am not personally a fan of the heavy funkiness in any rum. Pussers has a lot of that funkiness which I think also surprised me as I generally expect the high level of funkiness from a Jamaican rum. The funkiness just overpowered everything else except for the sweet molasses nose that I got after some time. Not a bad rum, just not for me. If funkiness is your preference, this is a good option for a reasonable price.

This rum was one of the first I have ever drunk. Unfortunately, I have to say that my taste has changed in the meantime so that this no longer appeals to me as before. But he is still good and suitable for beginners who want to dare slowly away from sugar
Review by Tim
Seems like a young rum from Guyana, which is still too strong with a biting and pungent alcohol plume. Smells quite sharp at the beginning, has very briefly reminded of a spicy mustard or herbs :-D But typical notes are already recognizable, such as the unmistakable woody and toasty chocolate-caramel-fruit mix. In the mouth a bit thin and mild, if then a bit spicy and sweet, but definitely roasty and chocolaty. In the finish sweet, fruity and toasty.

"So, on first sip, Pusser's British Navy Admiralty Rum didn't really appeal to me. It smells lovely of coffee and dark chocolate, but the body is a bit alcoholic. Another sip will help, revealing a caramel-woody, lightly spiced flavor and a not-too-long tail. Considering the price, however, this is a decent rum that will certainly not offend. Rum suitable for casual sipping or mixed drinks. 68%"Read full review →

"It can be a sipper but I just find it amazing when mixed liberally with cola. As I've said before not everyone will like Pussers Rum, but then again not all of us are blessed with exquisite taste. For those lucky enough get yourself a bottle of this wonderful winter..."Read full review →
