CDI Kaiman
"The nose is really nice and ever changing," as one taster put it — red fruits, sour cherry, pastries, then leather and grass that shift in the glass. It's a 46-year blend with real complexity for just 46% ABV. The catch nearly everyone names: a thin, watery texture and a finish that ends too soon. Fascinating to nose, a little frustrating to drink.

Retasting this one I admit that I would really have loved this rum to have a higher ABV because I think it would have greatly benefitted the rum. The nose is very fruity with burnt sugar and some grass to it (lile in a Jamaican rum). The palate is wonderful and has a bite on top of the fruity/spicy note. A lot of nice oak but not too much. The finish is long and slightly bitter with oak and ginger.

In view of the blended ingredients, the expectation is high - but unfortunately, the rum can almost never keep up with that. Thus, not only the motive for the marrying remains obscure, but also the dilution in particular. Unfortunately disappointing, even if the rum is of course basically good drinkable.

an absolute grenades Vintage blend... the nose alone is already the madness. after more than an hour of breathing time he shows what he can. very oily, a light honey sweetness, almost zero woody which is very surprising for the long maturation of the rums, in addition sourly fruity after figs and blackberries, some menthol, baked banana, mango, pineapple and sage. at the very end he reminds full pot of old tawny port and is just extremely tasty and balanced. all 3 shares are well recognizable and make a harmonious blend!

The nose is really nice and ever changing throughout the tasting. Actually I‘m surprised how intense and complex it is given the rum‘s pretty low ABV. Unfortunately, the rest can’t exactly hold up to the very nice nose. My main issue is the rather thin feel/texture. However, the palate is interesting and complex. It has quite a few things to discover and is in no way overwhelmed by wood. This is a very well made, elegant blend

Heavenly nose, unfortunately a bit too thin on the palate. I would have liked to taste the Guadeloupe pure.

Guter rum. Sehr komplex.

Really exciting🤩 Very unusual profile. Good to know what you're drinking here, it solves some taste question marks when tasting blind. I think this one is very awesome. Jamaica on the nose and Guadeloupe come out well. PM also still, Enmore and Diamond I couldn't taste right out of it. The complexity and balance, at 46%, I find hammer. Krass to taste that so much goes, even without high volume percent. It's also amazing how the taste changes over time. After a few minutes, new flavors always come into play.

The taste is deep and complex. Toasted bread and coffee, china bark and spicy spices such as ginger and rose pepper.

terrific nose! Especially because the aromas change significantly over time in the glass (therefore leave enough time). At first pineapple and cream candy, later the high Guadeloupe content comes through more clearly (reminding me of Gardel RumClub) with prune, red wine, orange peel, anise and nutmeg gingerbread. The palate is a bit watery, but the intense peppery spicy notes and black tea on the finish compensate relatively well.

A very good blend, but it wants to be drunk in absolute calm and time.... And then it is a real treat...A delicious fruity nose, varied on the palate with many delicate notes of wood, fruit and spice, which continues in the finish, which is unfortunately too short!Only downer, the rum is too thin! In barrel strength it should probably be a grenade!Very tasty

The Cayman CDI is an all-around successful blend in my view. He brings a very own note with it. On the nose, very fruity. But also earthy-meaty aromas and smoke. On the palate spicy, woody and smoked meat notes. Finish rather short. The only criticism is the low ABV, which makes it a bit thin overall.

More suitable for collecting than drinking Second tasting over a year later: Still seems trivial, watered down and slightly overdone. I can't perceive any clearly definable character. However, the rum is an easy sipper and by no means bad.

Very good rum, which you can definitely feel its age. In particular, many dry notes going into the bitter give clues to its age. However, it should be both in the nose and on the palate quite a bit more intense, which is possibly due to the dilution. A truly unique rum, which in my eyes, however, has mainly collector's value, in my eyes it does not justify the enormously high price in terms of taste.

Give it some time and it becomes very good. Ofcourse not as good as expected given price and age…

Color: Oloroso Sherry Aroma: Round, aromatic and mild with esters. Lots of raisins, smells like pastries. Smells very tasty. Taste: Spicy and woody in the mouth and when swallowed. Caraway and anise. At the second sip much better than the first. Finish: Dry, medium length. Spicy and woody
