Here's the twist: despite the molasses base, this Réunion 5-year drinks half-agricole, with fresh sugarcane, citrus and green-pepper herbal notes on a light, young-wood frame. The nose is the best part — several tasters found it fresh and even a touch perfumy up front. The catch shows on the palate: watered down to 40%, it turns thin and a bit muted, with a short vegetal finish.

A very reduced rum to please as many palates as possible, which has the effect of somewhat extinguishing the taste. Here, it's the nose that's very interesting, with an agricultural profile where the cane is very present, with a hint of wood and a real gourmandise. It's a rum from Reunion, with its own particular typicity. Very cool.

This Isautier is quite okay, there are much worse from this distillery :) The nose is very fresh, citrus fruits and herbs are recognizable before the young wood makes itself felt. Lots of herbs on the palate too, and a herbal note is also recognizable.

Right after opening my sample, the aroma was almost perfumy. Poured it to my tasting glass and unfortunately the aroma mostly disappeared. Afterwards only was getting light citrus. When tasting, got herbal notes and very light wood. Mouthfeel was quite watery. The finish was vegetal, grassy and short.
