Masam Port Mourant Private Stock of Silvano 2003
Sipped neat, this is a lighter, more citrus-forward Port Mourant than the wet-wood style people expect. Expect lime and orange peel, marzipan and almond, with the smoky-toasted oak sitting further back than usual. One taster called the nose "mellow yet interesting and fruity." A slight metallic edge runs through the palate; the finish is medium and a touch bitter.

- Alcohol well integrated

Citrusy, delicate Port Mourant sipper A well-liked, delicate PM: citrus, almond and gentle wood with the alcohol nicely tucked in. Some find it drinks older than 17 years; a few wish the finish ran longer.

No detours, and we might as well say it straight out: this is a far cry from the typical PM with its humid, woody DNA. These are more delicate, charming rums. The 2 bottlings are very comparable: Gourmet nose of exotic fruits, with hints of vanilla and pepper. The smoky-toasty-woody notes of the PMs are present, but less omnipresent than usual. Fat on the palate! Peppery, slightly iodized-smoky notes. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Molasses lingers and rounds out the whole. Personally, I prefer the fruity 1st cuvée (2003-2019).

A very flavourful rum. A tad metallic which I don't dislike. Very complex. Probably my favourite Port Mourant along with the Tamosi 1998 one.

This is a really nice release. Fruity and well mixed with spices and wood. Alcohol is integrated really well. Overall a nice profile. The empty glass is really nice after a few hours.

First thing first: how amazing is the shape of this bottle? On the nose, is very citrusy (lime, orange peel), a light hint of wet wood in the background, some almonds, possibly marzipan. With some air, I tend to nose some red fruits (I dare to say figs and plums). On the palate, is still very citrusy, yet metallic. Very warm, with almonds being more present :). Finish is medium to long, with wood, licorice and a hint of bitterness.

Very nice and mellow yet interesting and fruity nose. Very enjoyable throughout.

I recognize many typical markers of continental matured PMs on the nose, such as olive, anise, citrus (lime), mirabelle. On the palate, burnt sugar is added. Out the back (unfortunately) very strong barrel impact.

A pleasant easy drinking PM that lacks some complexity
