Alambic Caroni Rare Single Cask Rum Premium Cask 1999
Caroni fans who want an easy-drinking version of the style — this is the gentle end of Trinidad's tar-and-workshop world. At 45% it goes down light, with black tea, honey, oak and just enough of those dirty, medicinal Caroni notes to know what you're drinking. The catch several tasters land on: a lot of mellow bourbon cask pushes in front, and it stays simple where the big Caronis get wild.

How does Alambic Caroni Rare Single Cask Rum Premium Cask 1999 taste?
Aggregated from 12 community reviews.
Light, easy-drinking Caroni that plays it tame Divisive among Caroni people — the low proof makes it approachable but also tame, and a few call it too simple for the vintage. Nose beats the palate.

A Caroni that is rather easy to drink due to its low alcohol content. Nevertheless, it has rather dirty Caroni notes.

Light, continental Caroni at a low price. Doesn't tear up trees. Nor should it. Has all the markers that a large Caroni would have. Tar, honey, workshop. Nice aftertaste in an empty glass. On more % the rating would have been significantly higher.

This is a very disappointing Caroni and some of the traditional Caroni flavours are missing. A nutty medicinal nose with some added polish on top and black tea. The palate is alcoholic with wood and the medicinal note is back again as well as a lot of black tea. The finish is medium long, dry and bitter with a pinch of oak. Price does not match the quality.
Review by Jakob
Review by Champronisquare

This 1999 is of course one of the rarest vintages and not one that directly springs to mind. Again there is a lot of mellow bourbon cask that really pushes itself in front of the caroni. This is easy and probably also it's downfall. To simple in the end
