Romdeluxe Long Pond Wild Series Rum No. 9 2001
Give it 15-20 minutes in the glass — poured fresh it bites, but rested it opens into ripe banana, pineapple and a lick of solvent-y varnish. This is a 19-year Long Pond at cask strength, so there's real fruit up front, then dry oak and a bitter, tea-like turn on the finish. Several tasters put it right where they'd want a classic Jamaican, if a touch bittersweet late.

I had to rest this one because there was a bite on the nose after pouring the glass. After 15-20 minutes it gets far more accessible and the fruit flavours are easier to get. A lovely Long Pond with chocolate and wood in the front and nuts, vanilla and fruit taking the sidecar. Great balance and intense at the same time.

On the nose, ripe tropical fruits, banana, some pineapple, along with wood, vanilla, and a fine spice. On the palate, dense and well-structured with fruit, spices, and dry oak, all cleanly connected. Feels mature and harmonious, without being overly ester-heavy. An elegant Long Pond bottling with good depth and pleasant balance.
Review by Filip Šikula
Beloved long pond. Upon pouring, an intense fruity aroma full of pineapple and bananas with a hint of lacquer. The taste is a very sweet profile, full of fruit and lacquer that would benefit from a bit of calming alcohol. The finish is fairly long and ends with some bitterness.

A good Long Pond. But tropically matured?! I can not imagine...

Long Pond as you would imagine...Yum!

Pungent, but also nice, if somewhat restrained, fruity nose. There are the expected esters, some solvent and then also The sweetness of honey with a hint of cherry. Pineapple is there as well. Dry spice of vanilla in the background as well.A pleasant sweetness comes through on the palate at first, which is immediately replaced by bitter wood notes. The esters come through. Then comes something almost floral, fruity towards pineapple, which is immediately caught up again by bitter. Remains also bitter in the finish with tea.I had but already better LP in the glass!

Moc dobrá typická jamajka. Ve vůni velmi intenzivni estery, tropicke ovoce, přezrálé banány. V chuti lehce štípne alkohol, potk výbuch ovoce. Dojezd střední. Barva je hodně světlá. Přiznám, že bych tipoval spís Hampden než LP ale moc dobrý a uhlazený rum.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Could have been a good 2001 LPS but the alcohol is very dominant here both on the nose and the palate and not well integrated... Very biting and it tastes very burnt and bitter, as well as sour. Unfortunately, not my thing, sorry. Rather disappointing for a Long Pond from a generally promising vintage.
