HSE Kilchoman Single Cask Finish 2013
Sip this one neat and slow — it's built for a quiet chair, not a mixer. An agricole base from Martinique meets Islay peat, and the smoke shows up more on the palate than the nose. Expect ashy peat, wood, a little dried fruit, cinnamon and caramel. Several tasters say the whisky cask nearly takes over — one called it a "flüssiger Aschenbecher." Divisive on purpose.

How does HSE Kilchoman Single Cask Finish 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 53 community reviews.
Peaty agricole that drinks half whisky Whisky drinkers tend to love it; the grassy agricole often disappears under the Kilchoman peat. Most find it well balanced, a few find the smoke too extreme.

HSE Kilchoman finish is a special mix from two great regions, Martinique and Islay. The rum was aged in the tropics for 6 years and then finished for 4 months in whisky barrels. It was distilled in November 2013 and bottled in February 2020 in just 4100 bottles. Overall a quite elegant rum that must be perfect for people loving whisky that wa

Compared to the previous whisky cask finish this one is far better balanced and a good one. Nice and fruity with a hint of barrel and smoke.

A very peaty nose combined with a fruity character that makes it sublime! On the palate, the peat is still very present, but well balanced! I'm not fond of whisky with too much peat, but here it's very well balanced! Cinnamon and fruity coffee! Very tasty!

I am confused. Combination of HSE that I hate and islay whisky that I love...strange

I'm not a fan of peat at heart, but I find this product very successful because the peat is slightly present but not dominant, which makes this rum very elegant but with a certain character.
