"Jung, wild, intensiv" is how one member sums it up, and that's the deal here. The nose explodes with ester — overripe pineapple, banana, glue and solvent — big enough that several tasters guessed Hampden blind. Then the young virgin-oak barrel takes over on the palate: vanilla, baking spice, a bitter woody edge and a body that thins out fast. At one year old, the nose promises more than the mouth delivers.

Nose: High ester flows towards you, with grilled pineapple, solvent/turpentine Palate: The rum spreads creamy and the ester note dominates, plus young wood towards the end, slightly bitter and metallic! The finish is of medium length and the young wood predominates The rum would have benefited from a little more ageing, but still very good overall Tasted again today in the RumX calendar: My 1st tasting was confirmed again, although I find it considerably rounder today than last time!

Nicht mein Fall was Worthy Park betrifft mir zu wenig Gewürznelken und Vanille. Das kann WP definitiv besser. Bei High Ester ist Hampden einfach deutlich besser und runder. Alles in allem nichts was ich mir zulegen will, da zu eindimensional.

Extrem leckeres Release. Das junge Alter lässt den Früchten viel Raum, ebenso präsent macht sich aber die opulente Süsse von frischen Keksen, Vanille und Sahnetoffee. Ein Hauch Milchsäure, etwas Holz und knackige Gewürzschärfe. High Ester in einem lebendigen Holz funktioniert bei kurzer Lagerung schon beeindruckend gut. Richtig lecker, ohne langweilig zu werden.

Das 14. Sample ist ein SBS WP mit WPE Mark. Starke Esternoten, Butter und Holz. Frucht eher dezenter aber auch wahrnehmbar. Trifft nicht ganz meinen Geschmack.

RumX Adventskalender 2021 Tag 14 Frucht ordentlich Ester und ein schlag mit dem Holzhammer beschreibt es wohl ganz gut . Blind tatsächlich nicht direkt auf WP getippt.

Virgin Oak war wild drauf! Ordentlich Ester, dazu aber pflanzliche Bitterkeit die ich dem frischen Holz zuordnen würde. In der Nase völlig vergoren, mit Noten von Buttersäure (ja, das riecht wie schonmal gegessen…) und dann auch Lack und Klebstoff. Ich habe schon Virgin Oak getrunken, da hat das Fass einen schönen jungen, wenn auch wilden Charakter geliefert. In dieser Kombi ist es für mich persönlich nichts, zu wild, zu bitter. Blind wäre ich nicht bei WP gelandet, aber das macht es irgendwie auch nicht besser…

In der Kiste gewühlt und den hier gefunden. Also zweite Verkostung und da von S.B.S mehr Virgin oak im high Ester Segmentangekündigt wurde vermutlich gar nicht verkehrt. Die Nase voll tropischer überreifer Frucht macht wirklich Spaß und kommt locker in den hohen 80er Bereich. Erwartungsgemäß kommt am am Gaumen viel junges Holz. Dazu kommen einige Backaromen da könnte man eigentlich gleich in die Küche und loslegen. Angenehm zu sippen, Ein bisschen kräftiger könnte der Rum noch sein dann ist da bei künftigen Abfüllungen sicher noch mehr drin. Kommentar Erstverkostung (RumXAdventskalender) Mir gefällt das Mark wirklich sehr gut. Freu mich auf mehr High Ester WPE von Worthy Park!

Quite a good outing. Not my favorite rum, but drincable one. Better add the tastings of last week before the tasting tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm still very far behind on my old tastings, but comes time comes ratings 😉 This is a young rum and you can taste it. Basically the palate delivers far more than the nose. Overall a very good rum at the price tag.

RumX Adventskalender 14.12.21: mit der gegrillten Ananas in der Nase war ich total bei Hampden. Leider (mal wieder) falsch😂. Insgesamt ein solider Rum, auch in Anbetracht des Alters. Mit ist er jedoch zu wild und hat mich zuwenig abgeholt.

Nose:.. is it rum or pure, wonderful dunder?? Rotten pineapples, bananas, jackfruits (I would also dare some young durians), bravely mixed with some buttery meat. Palate: ooooooh, I just love it..those rotten fruits, all that hogo, is much more “controlled” and delicate on the palate, giving room to more subtle notes of spices (could be like ginger, vanilla and cloves). As time goes by, sweet pastry notes are slowly emerging..I personally sense some nougat and croissants. Really good, although the palate do not stand as wonderfully as the nose..finish kinda short for me

RumX-Adventskalender, 14.12., blind. Erster Eindruck: kräftige Ester wie New Yarmouth, am Gaumen dann einem Fidji sehr ähnlich. Insgesamt nicht ganz klar, wohl aber Jamaika und um 57%. Nase: kräftige Ester, nicht so fein wie bei Hampden. Etwas Marzipan und Ananas. Frische und Süße einer Zitrone kommt sehr stark in den Vordergrund. Dahinter schwingen etwas Essig und die leichte Schärfe von Ingwer mit. Da ist auch noch eine süße Note von kräftigem Thymian-Honig. Gaumen: wieder Ester und Marzipan mit einer leichten Bitternote und etwas Umami dahinter. Ein Hauch von künstlichem Fidji-Werkstattgeruch ist dabei. Hinten etwas Anis, Jod, Süßholz und grüner Apfel. Das Virgin Oak bringt hier wohl die Verwirrung, aber auch interessante Aromen. Und das mach nur einen Jahr Reifung. Spannend!

Im Geruch wirklich viel Klebstoff. Wirkte sehr stark wie ein Foursquare im Geruch. Aber im Geschmack kam dann echt ne schöne jamaikabombe.

Sehr ambivalent. In der Nase funky, Ester, vergorene Früchte die selbst für WPE Niveau schon sehr stark daher kommen. Im Geschmack geht die Power dann leider komplett verloren, so dass noch nicht mal der Worthy Park Fruchtkorb übrig bleibt. Dieser versteckt sicher Backgrwürz und zu viel Süße.

Tag 14 RumX Adventskalender: Nase: Ester, Ananas, überreif, aber auch recht stechend alkoholisch. Musste sofort an einen eher jungen High Ester Hampden denken. Gaumen: wie Nase, aber etwas verdünnt. Der Rum hat nicht so einen vollen Körper wie andere High Ester Rums. Mein Tipp war ein junger Hampden mit mindestens HLCF. Auflösung: Nicht schlecht; Jamaica, Ester und jung waren richtig.

Die Nase schlägt ein wie eine Bombe und haut einen fast um. Sie ist sehr fruchtig und hat etwas von extrem vergorenen tropischen Früchten. Gleichzeitig finde ich ihn auch sehr weihnachtlich würzig, hat etwas von Backgewürzen. Für dieses Alter also überraschend komplex, was dem frischen Fass geschuldet sein wird. Gegenüber einem Hampden sehr Konkurrenzfähig. Allerdings muss man auch sagen, dass dieses intensive Aroma mit der Zeit auch sehr anstrengend werden kann Im Mund kann er dann allerdings nicht mehr mithalten. Die extreme Verdünnung wird sehr deutlich und die Jugend macht sich bemerkbar

Ganz nett aber ein paar Jahre hätten ihm glaube ich noch ganz gut getan. Den Geruch habe ich als sehr angenehm empfunden. Starke Esternoten. Im Geschmack konnte er das dann aber leider nicht halten. Schön ihn mal probiert zu haben, eine Flasche würde ich mir allerdings nicht zulegen. Whiskeyliebhaber könnten bei diesem Rum aber ihre Freude haben.

Die Bewertungen der Anfangszeit haben mich immer abgeschreckt ihn zu öffnen, nun doch getraut und ich bin echt überrascht und begeistert, vorallem von dieser genialen Nase. Eine Ester/Fruchtbombe, jung und wild, klasse. Ich würde das ganze aber eher in die noch unreife, säuerliche Ecke schieben. An Gaumen erst süßlich, dann fuchtig und holzig, dann wieder diese feine Süße. Der Abgang mittellang, würzig,holzig und mit leichter Bitterkeit. Bin begeistert von diesem jungen Wilden.

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Der Vergleich mit dem Forsyths WPE White ist schon spannend. Ester ohne Ende, aber am Gaumen durch die kurze Lagerung etwas mehr Körper bekommen. Ich persönlich mag Virgin Oak und die Kombination passt super. Vielen Dank an Mentalo für das Sample.
