The Rum Mercenary Enmore 1990
Sipped neat is the only way here — this 27-year Enmore VSG is a slow, contemplative pour, not a mixer. Expect dry herbs, chocolate and coffee, licorice, dried fruit and that unmistakable pencil-shaving mineral note, all wrapped in a smoky, medicinal finish. Several tasters flagged it as complex and demanding, "kein Rum für Anfänger" in plainer terms: not one for beginners.
The community says- Complex and layered
- Dried fruit, chocolate
- Smoky medicinal finish

How does The Rum Mercenary Enmore 1990 taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Dry, smoky, medicinal old-Guyana sipper Loved for its dark, herbal Versailles character — chocolate, licorice, dried fruit over a smoky, medicinal base. The mineral, cough-syrup edge and long smoky finish divide people, though.

Très bien fait. Très pâtissier. On sent bien l’amande, les fruits exotiques et après 15/20 minutes des notes de cerises et pruneaux. C’est très bon.

30.05.2020 Had a nice afternoon with friends and friends of friends including some nice bottles of rum. Notes Light to medium dark colour. Nose Light wood, vegetal, light olive, orange, grass, dried fruit. Palate Fresh, wood, light roasted, grass, herbs, natural sweetness, spicy, light nutts. Finish Medium to long, wood, dried fruit, medicinal, light nutts.

Classic VSG profile, sweetness of candied dried fruit, plus the slightly metallic minerality of the typical pencil shavings notes, licorice, pepper, wood. Still a very good rum, but there are better representatives of the vintage.

Almost 2 years after the 1st tasting still very similar impressions. Lots of dry herbs, almost like an ethereal elixir. Medical undertone and smoky finish. Very complex and demanding, not a rum for beginners.

Un rhum qui aurait pu me plaire (chocolat, café) mais qui me paraît trop minéral. L'alcool pourrait être mieux intégré.
