The Rum Mercenary Bellevue Black Label Collection 1998
Cask-strength drinkers hunting old Guadeloe column still will find at home here. Twenty-one years have turned this into something odd — banana, olive, menthol and licorice over dry, noble wood, with a salty edge that keeps it savory rather than sweet. At 55.8% the alcohol sits remarkably integrated; a few drops of water pull the fruit forward. Rounded, complex, and dangerously easy to keep sipping.

Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
This is a great rum, especially when considering the price tag when it was released. The nose is a nice mix of banana, olive, tobacco, menthol, licorice and wood once it has rested. If you add water the flavours will be even more clear. The palate is fruity and lightly salty with wood and licorice trailed by mint, licorice and olive. The finish is long and lightly salty with fruits, wood and a bit of honey in the back.

Suppleness par excellence. Alcohol very well integrated. Complex flavor. Not as stunning as the other Bellevue but very fine. Complex character and top balanced.
