Corman Collins & Bristol Classic Rum Caroni HTR - Le blog à Roger 1997

Most tasters land on the same take: a genuinely good Caroni that isn't quite top-tier. You get the classic rubber, tar and "mechanical workshop" notes, but here they share the stage with an unusually big fruit wave and oily caramel. A few found the 58.5% a touch hot on the nose — give it time in the glass. Well-balanced, "medium-dirty," and easy to sip for the style.

A very nice Caroni release. Fruity with sweet notes alongside typical Caroni profile makes a perfect match. Cheers to Roger and Corman 👏

Another nice release from Corman Collins. Price to quality can be argued but it is still pretty good. The Caroni notes are there and I like the caramel note on the profile. I got a feeling of mint or eucalyptus on the profile but I'm not a 100% sure.

The strongest 97 Caroni I've had in my glass so far. Very well balanced. Simply a great rum. Second tasting: still cool and dirty. Slightly weaker than the Bürgermeister 97, but also 5% less

Tasting a few Caronis from Bristol. A fruity, rubbery nose, but not very expressive and not much mechanical workshop. The palate is a little disappointing, with lots of fruit and a mechanical workshop, especially rubber, more pronounced than on the nose, but not thunderous either. The finish makes up for it all, long, elegant and dirty. A contrast that makes this rum very interesting. It smells like a single cask compared to the Bristol 18 and 20 yo. But apart from the finish, the price here is not justified by the taste, unlike the 61.5% Bristols.

Bristol Caroni comparison: plays at the top, but falls short in comparison with its brothers. Nevertheless, a nice balance between fruit and dirtiness. All in all, Bristol offers good quality, unfortunately not always at a justifiable price

Ein Caroni der zurückhaltenden Art! Nicht sehr komplex aber gut zum sippen! Alkohol gut eingebunden!

Caroni

Avg Rating 8.8/10 620 Rums

No closed distillery is chased harder than Caroni. The Trinidad distillery shut down around 2002 and not a drop has been made since, but its heavy, oily, almost diesel-like rum became a collector obsession, carried to the world by Velier. Every bottle now comes from a finite, shrinking stock, which is exactly why the prices keep climbing.
