Rhum J.M Épices Créoles
Opinions land all over the place here. Everyone agrees it's genuinely spicy — cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, ginger over an oaky base with orange peel and vanilla. Where people split is the palate: several loved it in a ti punch or daiquiri, while others found it a touch bitter and more bourbon-like than agricole. One reviewer even said it tastes like Jim Beam.

Spicy, oaky agricole best in cocktails A well-made spiced agricole with no added spices — most people rate it fine to good. Excellent in cocktails; as a neat sipper it leans oaky, sometimes bitter, and short on the finish.

Tasted this rum together with the other two releases in the Atelier series out in my summer house in the Stockholm archipelago. This one is the three year old Épices Créoles aged in toasted American and French oak and it’s really living up to its name just as the other two. The nose as well as the palate is full bodied, herbal, fruity, woody, roasted and very spicy with aromas and flavors of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, chili, pepper but also vanilla and oak. The finish is rather long.

Still good agricole.

From the Days of Rum 2023 box. Start out with all the oranges. Very fruity. Vanilla. Cool and unexpected start. Let dig in- Taste: more oranges. Quite bitter too. Ginger. Pretty intense for its 46%. Did somebody dropped some fanta and tonic in the cask? Interesting vibe for an agricole. Outspoken. Not really balanced. Part of a series. Had the Fumee which is lighter but better balanced. Fun drop though.

Beautiful intensity and aromatic richness. Very gourmand rhum agricole with a lovely sweetness of spices and ripe fruit. Terribly effective

#4433 Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 Notes. Very fruity with a spicy touch. Has both earthy and vegetal notes and then a light caramel touch.

Very fruity, spicy nose. On the palate, a clear barrel character, which creates a nice compliment between wood and Agricol-typical freshness. Unfortunately! The finish is far too short. Unfortunately, it left too quickly...

Time to finish up the 1423 Christmas calendar "24 days of rum". On day 17 we get an agricole that I find decent, with a nose of ginger and other spices. I'm getting tastenotes of sugarcane, cinnamon and other spices and a finish of smooth oak

It is surprisingly good for the low ABV!

Very nice young agricole! Almost like a finished old fashioned

Well, like all the rums in this Advent calendar, it's a completely normal, average rum. It tastes a little different to the others, slightly spicy and tangy for me, but all within reason. You can do it.

The nose of this Rhum Agricole has a fruity note. The taste is dominated by the spices. The finish is spicy, fruity and with floral notes. Recommended for Agricole beginners.

This a very good rum and a great attemp at making an spiced rum without actual spices or any additives, but It kinda falls in the middle of nowhere in my opinion. It's an agricole but it doesn't have the typical grassy/floral notes. It's a decent sipper but it's not it's strongest point. The smell and taste really reminds me of a bourbon and I kinda miss a more "rummy" flavour. Don't get me wrong, the taste is very good, but at this price, you can get plenty of rums way better suited for sipping. As a mixer, that is it's main purpose, It's great, I tried it at daiquiri and cuba libre and it was excellent at daiquiri and very good on cuba libre. As I said, for the average price (which I think that is about 40€), I also think that there are better options for mixers. I got my bottle for 25€ so I won't complain too much... Overall a very interesting rum that I enjoyed, but it's a bit too bourbonish for my liking as a sipper. As a mixer it's outstanding and I appreciate the efforts of J.M of making something different.

Vanilla, a little more oak on the smell than from the Garden Fruits. Pours golden amber. Medium finish. Some lemon in the mouth, caramel as well. Pepper on the finish. Pleasant drink. Had as part of a JM flight at Casta's. 7.6

A strange spicy agricole intended mostly for cocktails, but even on its own is fine considering the price.

Sample no. 17 of the 24 days of rum calendar. Very beautiful vivid and intense color of the rum. Nose is fresh with citruses such as orange, lemon, sweetness of the vanilla and spiciness of the cinnamon. Taste is surprisingly different, we get more vegetal/floral tones with earthy character. It's very soft on the sweetness, orange is present here too but faintly and almost ginger like spiciness with barrell long finish. I must admit that nose is truly lovable, more than taste.

Sample no.17 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2023. Nose is very inviting with dried fruits, orange peel, sugarcane, wood and vanilla. Palate is very different from the nose. Here you get more of a peppery and fermented vinegar or wine taste. The sugar cane juices give that special flavour compared to a rum made from molasses.
