Habitation Velier Hampden Single Cask The One and Only HLCF DOK 2010
Sip this one neat and slow — it's a cask-strength Hampden built for a tasting glass, not cola. Expect overripe pineapple and mango, banana, that trademark glue-and-solvent ester funk, then vanilla and oak drying things out at the end. Blending the HLCF and DOK marks, several tasters call it more rounded and polished than the pure funk bombs, without losing the intensity.

How does Habitation Velier Hampden Single Cask The One and Only HLCF DOK 2010 taste?
Aggregated from 38 community reviews.
Intense, fruity Hampden ester funk, cask strength Loved across the board as a fruity, funky Hampden that stays balanced at 61%. A few felt the ester punch could use a couple more years in the barrel, but most see real depth here.

This is the bomb taking age into consideration, wow. A real ester bomb and still fruity. The nose is very intense and funky with lots of fruits trailed by vanilla and mint. The palate takes off where the nose finishes. Intense yet well balanced and warm with fruits, bourbon flavours and woody notes trailed by vanilla and herbal notes. The finish is very long and woody with fruits and vanilla.

This rum is a fruit bomb, during the nosing a lot of fruit in addition to esters and solvants hit your face. In the mouth the rum is extremely fruity and surprisingly round.

Wow, what a lovely aroma. Ripe banana with pineapple and vanilla. A bit of glue, mango, and esters. Simply delicious. On the palate, wonderfully round, fruity with pineapple and banana again, nuances, soft, vanilla, glue, a little bit woody, and deliciously funky. Alcohol well integrated. The finish is warm, funky, and long-lasting. Lots of fruit and esters. Delicious rum. A real kick, but controlled.

On the nose: Esters, glue, sour, fermented mixture with pineapples and other fruits. Judging by the nose, for me, this should have been aged for a just few more years, but lets check the taste. Taste: Fermented pineapple notes, glue and somekind of solvent note mixed together. After this you get light vanilla and banana notes. Good level of sweetness from the fruits. I have to say it right away that for my liking, maybe just s few more years would have worked wonders to this rum. Finish: Pineapple, bananas, vanilla in the background. Papaya. Light honey. Now, the finish is wonderfull. Nice clear fruit notes. I will stick to my first thoughts about this rum. The quality is clearly there with nice complexity, but its just feels like it could have stayed in the barrel for longer for my liking.

Firecracker! Sour overripe pineapple, green olives and neat intense after peach Plunder. Very cool.

A top tropical Hampden in my eyes. Nice, creamy mouthfeel, fruity (pineapple), pleasant woody notes, spices. Overall very well balanced and on a par with the Hampden from the Khong range.

Wow! Brutales Gerät. Wollte ihn seit Jahren probieren. Sehr gut, aber für mich nicht episch. Hintenraus eine Note, die ich nicht komplett feier. Aber geil ein Sample zu haben

27-03-2026 - Rate 8.8 Have tasted this fine Hampden many times, but this is my first time reviewing it. Fantastic nose full of ester, fruit and glue. Can instantly smell it’s a Hampden. And it tastes like Hampden. A great blend of two marks.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the "must try before you die" rums
Review by Kodai
The nose opens with tropical fruit, citrus peel, vanilla, ginger, and white pepper. This is followed by slight toasted oak and a whisper of leather, and a certain depth that reminds me of dark chocolate, but only fleeting. In the palate, the fruit is prominent initially before giving way to spice, a hint of tannins, tobacco, and roasted notes, leaving the palate slightly dry. The finish is medium to long, warm, and again slightly dry. Like many of Hampden’s releases, this “One and Only” brings the signature overripe tropical fruit, but it stands out as being more restrained, rounded, and polished. The palate also tends to be dryer, with whispers of oak in the finish. Not as pungent as some of the funkier bottling, but in my opinion, a masterpiece in its own right. It blends the more composed ester rich structure of the HLCF with the overripe funk bomb of the DOK and the result is a bottle with classic Hampden intensity, but with more layers and dimensions. Would I buy another bottle? If I could find one at a good price yes. Should you buy a bottle? Only if you are a Hampden fan and want to really see the breadth of their blending expertise, to experience the beloved rum from a completely different perspective. Slainte
