High Spirits Collection Port Mourant 1974
Given the nearly 60% ABV, the first surprise is how little it burns — this old Port Mourant is thick, oily, almost syrupy on the tongue. Members find prunes, plum, leather, coffee and dusty old wood, with molasses and caramel woven through. Several call it hugely complex and note it opens up over a long half-hour. One taster found the palate milder than the nose promised.

Heavy, oily, elegant. Fascinating complexity: leather, tobacco, wood, plum, perfectly integrated sweetness and alcohol...and so much more. Inspiringly complex, sheer opulence. This is simply outstanding quality.

Full of awe this rum came into the glass today ...Outstanding complex nose ... you could lie down in it ... Dark fruits, molasses, leather, coffee and chocolate characterize the first impression... All incredibly balanced. Insanity on the palate.... Lots of molasses, coffee and plum ... Alcohol very well integrated... Strong roasted flavors with caramel and some hazelnut. The rum easily needs 45 minutes to slowly open up, after which it gets better and better and better... 💥

Blind tasting: Pot Still Guyana. old. On the nose I would have guessed PM - given the swampiness. On the palate more like Versailles. In any case, it's delicious. Dark, leathery, lots of dried fruit. Very tasty.

#5426 25.06.2025 Enjoying a few samples while watching a crime series on the telly. Nose Bold, intense, wood, light roasted, plum, light chocolate, light leather, dried fruit. Palate Oily, medium intense, bold, balanced, complex, light leather, light cherry, plum, light coffee, light earthy. Finish Long, oily, warm, complex, balanced, wood, roasted, light earthy, faint chocolate, light coffee. Empty glass Chocolate, coffee, prunes, light tobacco, light pencil shavings.

Wahnsinns Rum. Im Gegensatz zum Bristol kommen hier etwas mehr fruchtige Noten zum Vorschein. Der Abgang ist durch den höheren Alkoholgehalt etwas intensiver Gefällt mir persönlich nochmal besser. Leider kaum noch zu finden. Bin froh das ich den schönen Tropfen genießen konnte.

Franconian Rum Tasting Gang & Jakob, 2023-07-27 Teil 2: Witzig, der allererste Eindruck in der Nase: Maggi! Dann Lakritze, Trockenobst, Leder. Irgendwie erdig und modrig, aber auf genial leckere Art. Am Gaumen geht es in der Richtung weiter, unheimlich komplex. Einer der leckersten Rums des Abends, trotz hervorragender Konkurrenz.

The difference between the 74 and 75 vintages is always very clear. I would describe vintage 74 as somewhat woodier and dustier. A very round, full, dense and lush nose. Extremely sweet with dried plums, raisins and dates. Also caramel, treacle, brown sugar, cola and a nice Maggie-like spiciness. Wood is very dry and dusty, but not at all disturbing. Various Jägermeister herbs, tobacco and iodine round off the whole thing very nicely. My goodness, this is complex...... In the mouth, the rum has an almost syrupy consistency, it's thick like a broth that has been boiled down for days. Oily, sticky and heavy, the rum lies on the tongue and plays with sweet dried fruit, caramel, creme brulee, lots of spice and massive, stony wood notes. Everything seems incredibly round, palatable and the almost 60% carry the rum very powerfully but pleasantly over the lips. There is almost no bitterness, brilliant! The best Port Mourant from 1974, without a doubt

Opět jeden z těch ulovených “jednorožců”. Na první pohled zaujme velmi tmavá barva. Komplexní nos nabízející tóny kůže, pečených jablek, sušeného ovoce a tabáku. Chuť je těžká, olejovitá plná starých tónů kůže, dřeva, tabáku a ovoce. A závěr. Ten závěr!
